TruMark Financial Credit Union

I have been a loyal member of TruMark Financial Credit Union since 1998. Over the past month, the credit union has charged me over $736 in overdraft privilege fees, even though they are not covering any of my transactions. It appears that TruMark is manipulating the timing of transactions to make it seem as though I lack sufficient funds, even when ACH deposits are made to my account. The system consistently shows insufficient funds for transactions but still allows overdraft fees to be charged. This practice is misleading and financially damaging. Most recently, I was informed that my overdraft privilege was suspended. However, I am still being charged overdraft fees, even when I have funds in my account to cover the transaction. In effect, I am being charged for a service I cannot benefit from. Each time a deposit is made, the funds are immediately consumed by fees, leaving nothing available for necessary transactions. This cycle makes it impossible to use my account responsibly and feels like a form of predatory banking behavior. When I contacted customer service, the representative offered no support, showed no empathy, and refused to escalate the issue beyond submitting a generic 'ticket.'

The card has a lower interest rate than most credit cards. However, at the beginning of 2025, TFCU offered a promotion where you paid a 3% upfront fee and had 0% interest for 12 months. However, as I made my monthly payments, they applied the payments toward the 0% balance rather than the higher interest rate balance. I thought this was illegal, but I have read that it is not. They only have to apply excess payments toward the higher interest balance by law. Beware! Don't fall victim to that tactic. I won't do that again. I have already stopped my direct deposits with them because they kept preventing me from withdrawing my money from the same branch where I opened my account when I tried to use the ATM. I kept getting a fraud alert. Even after multiple attempts to rectify the situation, including getting a new ATM card and calling the fraud department, they continued to do it. I can't risk not having access to my money, so I stopped my deposits. As soon as the credit card balance is paid off, I will stop using this bank altogether. Stick with a reliable bank.

A local credit union, half a mile from my home, has more bureaucracy and officiousness than Chase ever had!
In person, some people are friendly and helpful, but overall, the experience is horrible and there's no accountability whatsoever.

Great credit union unless you need to call them. At that point, expect 2-3 hours to get a simple question answered. Their ACD might be the worst I have ever encountered, and you cannot email them. So, provided you never have a question or need to reach a customer service representative, they are fine. Otherwise, run, don't walk, to another bank.

The student loan line of credit process is a real headache. It's a pain to complete and takes a very long time. They held up the loan approval because they wanted my co-signer to have an open checking account with current activity. They did not tell us prior to the hold that this was what they needed to finish the approval process. My co-signer was forced to open a checking account and put $5 in it every month so there would be current activity. The line of credit loan is so that you don't have to keep applying for loans every semester (like you do with traditional student loans); however, Trumark keeps closing/terminating the account and forcing me to reapply (three times). I have wasted so much time, effort, energy, and other people's time and energy (my poor co-signer!). I should have just gone with a traditional student loan. I wouldn't recommend this bank to anyone unless you have time to waste and enjoy headaches and frustration. The open line of credit student loan is a system they use in other countries, especially so that student loans are easy to acquire, and you only get what you need/ask for without constantly applying for new loans. Trumark needs to refine their system and make it easier for people to use. I would give them 0 stars if I could.

Zero stars. Went to my TruMark branch in Jenkintown, PA, to withdraw cash from my checking account. I wanted $14,000 out of a balance of over $50,000. I was told they had to place an "order" to get me that much cash. I told them I needed it in two business days before I had to leave to go to my other house in NJ where I was having work done. I went back two business days later and was told the money wasn't there. I left because I was meeting with the landscaper at my other house—two hours away—that afternoon. THIS IS MY MONEY and TruMark wouldn't give it to me in a timely manner.

Just over a year ago, I co-signed an auto loan so that my nephew would have transportation while in college. My nephew made his first payment early, and for more than a year and a half now, he has made every payment on time. Since then, as the co-signer, I have made an application to purchase a new home, and the lender is requiring a statement from Trumark noting that the initial payment was made early and all other payments were made on time. The request for this information was made three weeks ago, and as of today, 21 January 2023, I still have not received this simple statement, even after calling the credit union and being told that the letter had been completed and to expect the email on the 17th. No email has been received. This is disappointing to say the least. As a result of Trumark's failure to address this matter, we have made a decision to take the necessary steps to close our account and take our business elsewhere.

Since you switched to the new credit card system it has been nothing short of a nightmare, my payments are not posted, when you pay the balance, and its credited to account, an outstanding balance always appears as owing several more hundred dollars in outstanding balance

Convenient and versatile card. Credit Union is great overall. Numerous locations friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended credit product.

Awesome service - generally deal with the parkwood office -- every person there goes above and beyond . Especially the Mangager, Cindy. Very friendly, and knowledgable. Awesome Credit Union!!

I am a person who makes early payments with no delay of 1 day. I have been working with this institution for years, but it is an institution that I will NEVER choose from now on! . It is a Credit union that canceled the approved loan for ridiculous reasons and I regret being a customer of it. I DO NOT recommend it to anyone. Credit approval department is messing up.!

This Credit Union is for the people and family of members. Gold star for the members and staff of this financial institution. Would recommend to others.

I have been with this company through the name changes since 1983! I must commend Daria Gains and her staff at 5th and Berkshire in Philadelphia for there personal and diligent work but the pandemic must have slowed down the rest of the company! I only asked for an increase on a home equity line that I already have and it’s taken forever! I hope that none of you out there have been experiencing the same thing!

Very good rate 5.99-12.99, friendly staff, easy to access with app or local banks, with very good car and home rates. cons a bit of delay between locking/ unlocking card through app.

NASTY!
I went in to apply for a checking account. The branch in Chestnut Hill was completely disorganized. No one knew where to direct me, I had paid off ChexSystems but they told me it was not enough time and they don’t accept paid in full letters or a conference call. Fair enough, but life happens and I could have done without the condescending attitude. I asked to speak to the manager, Marcus White and he initially claimed “conference call” and refused to see me. I pointed out that he was NOT on the phone and was reluctantly told to come in.....I go into his office and he doesn’t even offer me a seat. I explained the situation and he starts to SNICKER.........and tells me to come back.......at that point I ripped his card up in front of him and told him goodbye! Again, life happens......I get it.......but I don’t need judgement......they all need retraining!
