An extremely creepy and unprofessional credit union run by very immature individuals. I have never worked with a worse or more concerning bank in my entire life.
I have been a member for over 6 years without issues, and I recently started using my credit card more than I have in the past. As a result, this credit union blocked my card, never contacted me about fraud, and expressed concerns about my identity. They never provided options to confirm my identity, but instead, decided it made sense to send a social worker to my home. I met with them outside to confirm that I was aware of all transactions. This was beyond disturbing, and I provided all of these details to the credit union, which they denied sending someone (despite the social worker stating otherwise).
When I tried to resolve this issue, given that I have never had an issue with any account and always manage my accounts properly, their AVP of Member Experience left a disturbing voicemail where she forgot to hang up the phone and was speaking poorly of me. It was very bizarre, unprofessional, and there are really no words for this.
I agreed to a video call over a month ago to verify my identity, where I presented my ID, reiterated the concerns that I have filed with the BBB, and never heard back. I waited nearly a month, called several times, and no one had the decency to return my calls. On top of everything else that happened up until this point, there is absolutely no reason for this, and it's extremely disrespectful.
Finally, after raising the issue with the BBB (which absolutely should not be needed), I was rudely informed by this credit union that they had emailed me the day after the video chat requesting my ID (which they never did), then stated that I sounded different over the phone versus video so they have to close my account. I have called over 6 years and sound exactly the same. This entire issue, making me a target, forcing me to jump through hoops, refusing to respond, lying on several occasions, and having extremely unprofessional and immature employees reach out to me was more than bizarre.
The level of disrespect, creepiness, and unprofessionalism cannot be overstated for this credit union. I have documented everything with the BBB, as this credit union has no concern for resolving issues. It's embarrassing how much effort I put into managing this account, as I have never experienced an issue at this level, and I still cannot believe that such an unprofessional credit union even exists.

Use these services if you prefer having every order rejected, requiring post-authorization. They just caused a Home Depot order for $54 (not even $100) to be canceled, then sent an email demanding to know whether it was authorized. Now, I have to reorder it and fill out forms online - again - at Home Depot. This happens continually with this credit union. I've used them for over a decade, but I'm discontinuing their service; I can't stand it anymore. Look for something better.

A strong financial institution that has been easy to work with. They were accommodating and helpful in getting us a competitive interest rate when we refinanced our car.

They gave me a loan when no one else would. I know the interest rate is kind of high but they do a wonderful job and work with you as much as possible.

I applied for a mortgage loan, and got a pre-approval through Phil Dykstra. He was helpful at first, but as I started home shopping, and needed him to give me info on the loan for specific homes he became disconnected, and wouldn't return phone calls, or emails. We got a much better customer experience through another lender.

I had an account with the credit union as a student at the U of I. At the time their online portal only functioned with a username and password provided by the credit union which riddled with bugs. A $25 charge has ended up ruining my credit and it has been almost 6 years since closing the account.

U of I has backward bias policies. I wanted to open an account and the gentleman (I use that term lightly) acted as though I was bothering him and he did not have the time. I was denied because of a six year old bankruptcy. I was treated very poorly & all but kicked out of the office

When I came to the University of Illinois in 2012, I established a savings account at the credit union. For six years, I have been a department Head at the university. Since the credit union lacks a national footprint, I did nearly all my banking elsewhere. When I went in to close my account, I was told that because I had not been active with it, they had charged me fees which had wiped out the account. They also claimed that I had been sent notices. I received none, and finding me should have been easy as I am the only University of Illinois employee with my surname. I have been a customer of credit unions elsewhere, and this level of high handedness was never a problem.

Two customers, only one handshake. My wife and I have waited hours to meet with one of the mortgage officers at the First State Branch, and she shook hands only with myself, not with my wife. We moved into her room to talk more about possible mortgage options and pre-approval, etc, and for the entire time it was suffocating. She, the mortgage officer, barely talked, and answered only with very brief comments when we asked questions. At the end, she told that we wouldn't have a pre-approval without taking a look at our info like assets, incomes, etc. (Both of our FICO credit scores are close to 800) We were basically kicked out of the room. I am hoping that she is not a racist (my wife and I are ethnic Asians). I have had a savings account and a credit card, and I am considering closing them since I do not want to be involved with U of I Credit Union ever again.

I recently have been forced into a relationship with U of I CCU by the death of my aunt as I am her executor and she was a member. Though I have all the necessary documentation establishing my control over her finances, it has taken multiple phone calls to do to do this, and employees have been outright unhelpful in giving out any information over the phone though I live out of state. My initial contact with the customer service personnel was not only terse and unfeeling toward a customer dealing with a family death, but also a clear indication that they did not even know what paperwork to ask for in the situation. I may end up having to pay my attorney to get information from them that other businesses willingly have supplied as soon as I established my identity as the new holder of the account.

you do realize that it is a financial institution. A small one at that. they have to have very strict security measures to keep accounts and personal information secure, ESPECIALLY over the phone. Call centers are the number one target for fraud. they aren't going to give someone account information on one of their members just because someone called in saying that they are the new owner of the account. and that they have paperwork.

I have never had a better experience at a financial institution, namely Katie Bogner. I have the following products here: checking, savings, Visa credit card, overdraft protection credit line, automobile loan and warranty
Eventually, my goal is to transition all of my credit to this financial institution.

I have made 3 attempts to have my current car loan set up to pay electronically from my bank. The first attempt I was told the U of I Credit Union could not initiate the electronic payment. The 2nd attempt, made by phone, led me to a rep that knew the U of I could set up electronic payments. I was to receive a form to sign electronically to my email address but I never received the form. I went in to the 2201 S 1st branch today for my 3rd attempt. I wanted to sign the form that I did not receive electronically. The front desk personnel would not assist me as I did not have my driver's license on me. It really should not be this difficult. I am now searching for a new lender as there will not be a 4th attempt and I am not happy with the service I have (not) received.

I got a loan from UIECU for my new car. I'm a student and didn't have a long credit history, but the application process was super easy and the financing seemed reasonable. I make a direct deposit from my payroll into an associated savings account and so automating payments has been very easy. The staff are very friendly when I've gone in with questions about my loan (or more often, to get quarters for laundry). Also the atms on campus don't charge a surcharge if you're withdrawing from another bank (although the other bank still does). My only complaint is the mobile app is a little spartan.

This is the first credit union I ever used, and I gotta say it is really good. The people that work here are some of the friendliest I've ever met in a financial institution. It's pretty much on a first name basis here, which makes me feel welcome. The fees are almost nonexistent, and usually they waive them if there is a misunderstanding. I am glad I left a big bank for this credit union. The only problem is the lack of ATMs away from the school, but beyond that everything is sublime.
