Don't believe me until it happens to you. Oh, and get this: apparently, they block you from going above Linda's head to get to the bottom of this because some people just can't make it to their branch when they live about an hour away. So, while Linda sits back and enjoys her weekend by allowing her customers to be in doubt about where the security is, this bank unquestionably allows bad transactions without calling or alerting. I am livid and will be seeking legal advice to pursue this. I've already had to go to an identity website to help with the issue because this bank allows fraudulent activities, and it's almost like they want to help the wrongdoers. It makes no sense; maybe she got a cut out of it, who knows. I do not recommend this bank to anyone; they will allow fraudulent activities on your account and will treat you like the suspect.
I'm not perfect, so somewhere my information was hacked, but no one deserves for their bank to not stand up for them in these situations, and I shouldn't have to be forced to come in if I am not able. All this could have been handled over the phone. I mean, did the people who committed the fraud walk through the door and pretend it was me? I highly doubt it. Umpqua knows me, so don't even say yes because I did not come in and authorize this at all. Listen, everyone, do not choose this bank; they won't stand up for you.
They said I had to go to a branch at one point. The nearest branch had closed down, so the nearest branch is hundreds of miles away. My advice is to be very careful when banking online with Umpqua Bank and don't expect any help.
They can afford to take over another banking company, but they can't afford to hire the personnel needed to service those customers. Lousy in every way.
Terrible customer service and very poor communication on all fronts.
They froze my account due to possible fraud (which was great), but then never notified me that they were closing the account, still allowing me to deposit funds.
They had my mail, phone number, and email, yet they chose not to notify me at all that my account was disabled.
As a result, all of my bills, credit cards, and rent payments were rejected, causing me to be charged with hundreds of dollars in late fees.
I am now spending days trying to rectify the situation, from updating auto-pay options across all the apps I use to having to take a day off work to drive to the nearest Umpqua to pick up a check.
In the age of digital banks with higher APY, why even waste time with this local bank?
