I couldn't choose zero stars. University Credit Union are crooks. I filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2013. Recently, they reported late payments exceeding 90 days and collections to the credit bureau. I had it removed once on September 23, 2023. The next day, they changed the date and refiled the same accusations with all three credit bureaus. They are using my credentials, which they still have on file, as I had just set up this account. They have my ID and signature. I provided proof that I was incarcerated on the day they claimed I set up the account. I informed them that I had to file for Chapter 13 bankruptcy due to a car accident in 2019 and if this were true, it should have been included in that filing. My ex worked there and has many friends. They are harassing me by using my past to judge my character. Every time I call and provide proof, they dismiss me by saying I need to contact their attorney. I've called him twice, and he knows nothing about it.
I'm a business owner trying to secure a loan for a job I have. I've been rejected twice because of these remarks, even though my credit is back in good standing except for these discrepancies. Be cautious of this credit union; I would not recommend doing business with them. If anyone has questions, you can message me on Messenger; my name is Brandon Kenworthy. I would upload audio and video recordings of my incident with this credit union, but I can't upload them on Google reviews. Contact me if you're interested, and I'll prove everything I'm saying about this disreputable credit union.

They said the campus purchases yield 5 points per dollar. They didn't honor it, when I asked they said there is a problem in their system and they don't know when it will be fixed. They also stole all my reward points. No accountability, no answer they can do whenever and whatever they want.

We've been with them for ten years. When we first started they were great. If we had an issue, you went in and they fixed it. We accepted that interest rates were not as competitive as other banks (e.g. more traditional banks) but the service made up for it. Always personal and great.
Then the Pandemic happened and I imagine that they needed to create more revenue or cut costs. First, they ditched the debit card processer that was on the "back end" of the system and did not tell any of us. Within a few weeks my debit card stopped working online for purchases but still worked in store. I called and it was a typical big-bank response--no idea, not our fault, can't help you. So I went into my branch and they told me that it WAS their problem and gave me a new card.
Well, I'm there so I inquired as to a recent charge our account incurred. In my experience of ten years, if you had no other issues, you went in and they waived it. Well, not this time. "Sorry, I can't do that. Our management decided that all requests need to be done on the phone with their new 'fee team'. Wish I could help you but I can't." Sounds like typical big bank B.S. without the competitive rates or products. And now service is gone, so it's just "another bank" that is not at all distinct. They DID waive the fee, but I had to call them and beg and then endure a lecture on how to avoid fees. Someone decided that revenues is more important than service. They're now too big for their britches.

Awful!! I applied for a business credit card which I was told would take one day weeks. After weeks of me calling for an update and getting the run around and them not calling me once to update me I finally gave up. That was over a month ago. If they didn't want my business they could have told me before they pulled and dinged/lowered my impeccable credit to get my credit score. Amateur hour.. ended up going with America First Credit Union and couldn't be happier with the process and outcome.

I have been banking here for over 20 years. In the last 5 years the service has been TERRIBLE. I can rarely get my money out when I need it, there bill pay system is a joke, they have horrible customer service 9 out of 10 times. I couldn't get them to release a hold on my Bill Pay because it was a Saturday and they were open. One of the branch managers cancelled my credit card and opened a new one when I my account was hacked. They didn't tell me they cancelled it and reopened a new one, which caused my credit score to drop. I will be pulling my money out of this Credit Union and suggest that NO ONE GETS AN ACCOUNT WITH THIS HORRIBLE BANK.

I opened account in University Federal credit union bank office right of campus of University of Utah, in Salt Lake city, UT. When I started studies at Utah. They offer really basic service with no security. In case of site failures and when you call the helpdesk for help , they take no responsibility. I forgot my password and reset password details weren't being confirmed to be right, so I called the supervisor, Arianne, she straight up told me she cant help me with issue. I was pleading with then that they have in fact verified my phone number, I could give more details but she was like only if you are account holder, you will give correct details. Turns out later that they closed my account with charges of about 50 dollars which wasn't sent as a notice in mail, only mail I found was to change my address. so I would not recommend this to anyone since even the supervisor would not be able to help you as account holder if you locked out. They don't even have basic backup option of resending the password , say in mail. She straight away told me , she cant help!

I got a HELOC loan through them, decided to refinance and pay it off. They asked for multiple documents, all had to be sent twice because they lost them. They received the payoff and in the meantime charged $25 in interest (not a lot I know) but refused to write it off as this account was to be paid for and closed. I paid it myself. The bank then ran the check......twice! So I am being penalized for their mistake. We have sent a second check over as they refused to accept wire transfers. Now they are requesting the original paperwork and signatures again!! This is unbelievable. They are only out to make money and scam you out of more. I do not recommend them, STAY AWAY! Especially when dealing with Julene, Sarah and Melinda the branch manager. Extremely unhelpful.

They have the worst services I have ever had experienced. The customer services have been the least helpful. They made the most profit during the COVID-19 pandemic by pressing customers and giving them hard time.

***AVOID AT ALL COSTS*** I opened a HELOC with this institution as they advised me it was a NO FEE financial product. I never used the loan, and after many years I decided to close the account. Upon asking to close it, I was told I would not be charged a fee. I was closing it as we were refinancing our home. Then, when I did close it, low and behold there is a $200 fee. They admitted they lied, but said too bad. This came straight out of the VP of Lendings mouth. They are liars. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.

I've been with the University of Utah Credit Union for about 5 years and think they're awesome! They offer great sign up rewards for University of Utah students, of which I am one. Every time I go into the bank I receive fantastic customer service. Once I lost my debit card, and it was not at all a hassle to get a new one, the teller was incredibly helpful and efficient. Their online services are fantastic also, I have just started using the mobile check deposit and love it!
