IMHO… UNIWYO, just like the Wyoming State Insurance for retired folks, are fed by sheeple who just take it for granted they are getting a great deal. I know many folks who blindly stick with UNIWYO and the Wyoming Retirement Health because “they are Wyoming!”
DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!!
UNIWYO would do better if they took care of people who need to park their money… then they could give better rates to people who need to borrow money. It’s not rocket science!!!!
UNIWYO took good care of me when I was poor and started out teaching at UW back in 1985. But that was 38 years ago. Back when Karen Stapp and Sam Dunnuck were running the show, and Tia met me at the door when I came in. God bless Tia, she died in her early 40’s from colon cancer. What a sweetheart she was!!
Now I have significant resources, but UNIWYO is way behind the curve compared to industry standards vying to park my money in their institution.
Sadly, I’m closing out all my accounts because I do not want to lose money just to stay loyal to UNIWYO anymore.
DO YOUR RESEARCH!! Another bank is just a click away in this age of computers!!!
I use to think UniWyo FCU was great, until they changed their format for paying off loans and any other bank transactions. I now have to pay an additional $5.00 service fee to pay a vehicle loan that I got back in 2015. The only way you can keep from paying this fee is to go pay at one of UniWyo's Branches, or direct deposit or go to my bank and do a bank to bank transfer, all which require direct fixed payments. They do not have the ability where we can post or payments in advanced and select the date we want the payment to process. We should not be required to pay $5.00 to have our loans processed. They make enough profit from the interest fees they charge. I guess that is not enough, so now they can boast their profits by charging an additional $5.00 per transaction. I highly recommend that you search out and use other Financial Institutions for your business. Most Financial Institutions are more member friendly and don't charge additional fees like UniWyo does. I can understand fees for using a Credit Card, but using your Debit Card or Bank Account should not cost anything extra. If I was rating UniWyo for Customer Service to thier Members, I would give them an F. As I see it, they only care about their Bottom Line. It's all about the MONEY.
Extremely disappointed as I have previously heard positive reviews. Recently refinanced my car as they claim to have low rates and a “quick and easy” process. Took nearly three weeks to pay off my balance after losing the payoff in the mail. When I first called for inquiry and assistance with this issue, I was met with no help and told to figure it out on my own. The dealer actually provided me more reassurance than Uniwyo... Thankfully, another loan officer was able to help me untangle the mess, but the company still denied assistance in paying for fees associated with resending my payoff. I would recommend giving business to a different credit union that can assure their customers with the process of refinancing. If I could do it again, Uniwyo would not be my choice. They don’t take care of ALL their customers
Three months ago I purchased a home in Cape Breton Canada. My lawyer there sent the remaining funds in the form of a check to UniWyo Federal Credit Union. I was given a personal assurance by bank representatives it would take 7-10 days, 14 max. My lawyer sent it February 1, 2017, and February 3, 2017 UniWyo Federal Credit Union cashed the check. Since that date, I have not received any of the funds, $35,000. Today is March 13, 2017, and I’ve been told they do not know where the funds are and it could take much longer to receive them. They have no idea of an end date. I have asked to speak to the vice president and have tried to reach out to the president as a result of getting the run around by one of the branch managers, but to no avail.
I had hoped to establish UniWyo Federal Credit Union as a bank for our personal and business needs, but will no longer consider them for either. I will continue to depend on JP Morgan Chase for all of our bank needs and immediately transfer any/all funds from our UniWyo Federal Credit Union account to our Chase account. Chase has great customer service, calls a customer back, and knows how to meet a client’s business needs. They don’t make promises they can’t keep and compensate you when they make a mistake.
I do not recommend UniWyo Federal Credit Union to anyone.
I highly recommend this bank to anyone!
The online website is easy to use, and whenever I've need help a quick phone call was all that was required to resolve my problem. Customer service is always quick over the phone, with no waiting. I rarely need it, though. Currently, I receive all communications from them through paperless statements.
The checking account is free, and there is only a low minimum savings balance required. Interest rates are low for savings and checking, but that's true of pretty much everyone these days.
If you live in the Laramie area and are eligible to join, I highly recommend UniWyo.
