WSECU's story begins in 1957 when a small group of Washington State employees decided to form a financial cooperative. For 58 years, they have been proud to support dedicated public employees. Today, they are open to all in Washington State and are a particularly great match for those who embrace the values of giving,... show more

NEEDS TO BE IN THE NEGATIVE DIGITS. 1 IS TOO HIGH! Between WA State and WSECU's incompetence, issues have arisen due to the state government changing my legal name on my current driver's license that I have never legally used. I am struggling to use my EIN to set up an account. Over the past month, I have pulled together documentation to verify who I am. None of it has been good enough, even though the IRS has sent me a letter verifying my EIN and my social security number exists with the name I have been using for over 63 years. On top of that, I have existed and raised all my kids here in WA State, legally using the name, owning a home, and working with state courts, all with the name I am now trying to use with WSECU. After enduring tremendous hardships, I received contradictory suggestions and meaningless assurances that just doing one recommended thing would resolve the issue. Now that the EIN has been verified in a letter from the IRS, I am told my UBI is not verified. When I testified in court, my fee was $125.00 per hour. Being generous for the time I have wasted and the hours put in, say 20 hours... I am owed $2,500.00 for my pain and suffering. There is NO WAY I would ever allow this organization to manage my money. I cannot contact WA DOL, nor can anyone else. WSECU is not worth another second of my time. For that matter, I am not sure WA State is either.

I first joined WSECU in 1988 while attending college at Washington State University. I have received excellent customer service every time I have made any transactions or taken out loans with them. Over the years, I've had three vehicle loans and a mortgage.
I moved to Arizona but never closed my account. My husband and I were in the process of purchasing a new truck in Flagstaff. Our local credit union was Arizona Federal Credit Union. I called Arizona Federal to see what their loan rates were then called WSECU to see if they would finance an out-of-state loan; they said yes. They beat Arizona Federal Credit Union by a full percentage point. So we went with WSECU. They definitely take care of their members, especially if you know how to manage your finances; you'll get great rates. If you don't know how to manage your money, check out Dave Ramsey's website for money management help. Thanks, WSECU, for all the wonderful service over the past 37 years; you all are the BEST!

My parents have been banking with WSECU for over 20 years, and I have personally been with them for 23 years. After moving back from overseas and reviewing my transactions, I realized there was a transaction I didn't approve on my credit card. I called WSECU and asked to shut down my accounts. The lady I spoke to told me I didn't need to get a new routing number or account number since it was only my credit card that was affected. However, I insisted that I still wanted everything changed. I later found out that my savings account had also been compromised. WSECU did not conduct their due diligence during their fraud investigation; they acted like they couldn't do much or return my money. As a military service member and a loyal customer of the bank, I am disappointed. I can tell you this is one of the worst banks in Washington, and I won't be doing business with them in the future.

I have never been so humiliated by a financial institution as at the WSECU Federal Way branch. After depositing a refund check for a returned medical device, WSECU initially made $2,000 available to me. Later that day, when I attempted to withdraw the remaining amount that was already released, a person named Maria unilaterally decided, without approval from the manager or anyone else, to place my funds back on hold. Without any explanation, I was treated like a criminal and denied access to my own money—despite being a customer in good standing with a car loan and credit card in perfect payment history. To make matters worse, I was refused access to the manager when I asked for help. This experience was not only deeply insulting but also put me in a difficult financial position as I rely on these funds for medical expenses. I would strongly caution anyone considering banking with WSECU to think twice about trusting them with your money. I've had one speeding ticket my entire life, and to be treated as though I'm somehow doing something wrong, and to arbitrarily reverse funds that I'm literally counting on for life-saving prescriptions, as I'm standing there and saying "yes, ... we're not going to be able to do that today," I am still in shock. How dare someone who knows nothing of me judge me in that manner. I chose WSECU because of its reputation for service and integrity, but this experience has severely shaken my trust in the institution. I have lived up to my end of our agreement and made my payments on time, every month for my car, $659 a month for my credit card, and I'm treated this way? I'm disappointed, truly.

I banked with Washington State Employees Credit Union for decades. Three times we were told there wasn't enough money in our account or the account was closed. The same account was used for buying groceries, clothing, gas, and making other personal loans for another car. The bill collector, John, called me dishonest twice. He said my credit score had not gone down over the payment mistakes, but it went down 76 points. Then he tried to say I just slipped up and told him I live in Alabama instead of Georgia. I was telling my son-in-law he would have to drive to Alabama to pay off the attire loan. My son-in-law had to raise his voice at him to get him to stop misrepresenting what I had said. Do not ever work with this credit union. It was the worst experience of my life and cost me many points on my credit score.

My review is about loans all loans.I have been just building my credit for just over 2 years now. I have wanted a motorcycle for a long while now but, everytime i find one and apply for credit,no bank would give me a chance.I do have a SUV that i got financed for but,the only place that would do it charges a 20% to 25% interest rate. Well i did it because i needed a vehicle. So after about a year or more of on time payments, i think to myself i should be good to get a loan from my bank for a motorcycle. NOPE!! As a matter of fact the first place i went for a motorcycle told me flat out all cash or we cant help you i have a 680 credit score. I was like wow, what can i do well few months later, i see a awesome Yamaha at a dealer in Tacoma. I call them we talk i tell them what i have been going through she says that shouldn't be a problem we have 1 of the BEST CREDIT UNIONS AROUND WSECU!!!!!! I did tell her i had a old charge of for 66$ that was over 6 years old and that was stopping me from getting a loan from any bank, and when i say any i mean ALL!!! So i say lets give it a shot worse case i get a NO!!! Well i get a call in under 30 min we got you on this motorcycle i was so happy then when i heard the intrest rate of under 8% i almost cried. I have had the best experience with WSECU for the last few months always helpful get reminder emails for my account, i have been with Wells Fargo for years now and i cant even get a credit card from them im really about to move all my money over to WSECU and work with them with everything they are AWESOME!!!! Just want to let people out there know there is a bank out there to help you in that time of need or want. I say with 100% confidence WSECU is the way to go cant wait to go and get my brand new car and work out a great loan from them and why stop there even a mortgage in the next few years im sick of renting , why rent when you got WSECU in your corner to help you OWN IT. Well thats all for now THANKS WSECU FOR MAKING THINGS COME TRUE AND HAPPIER THAN EVER!!!! GOD BLESS EVERYONE!!!

I got a car loan through this bank. Half way through the loan I got cancer and was unable to work. When telling them this in order to get some kind of help they decided to help me by increasing my monthly payment. It was absolutely amazing to hear someone tell me they can't do anything then have the next months bill doubled. These people have no interest in providing service of any kind. I've made multiply attempts trying to find anyone who cared in the slightest. Expect horrible service hiding behind a smile from this bank.

My son encouraged me to open an account with WSECU as he had been banking with them for years. Shortly after opening my account with them I decided to apply for this card. I received a credit limit much more than I thought I ever would get. This is also a low interest account. The lowest of all my other cards. I couldn't be happier!!

I’ve banked with WSECU for years and decided to apply for a credit card with them that was the worst mistake of my life. I don’t care nothing about their customers. I couldn’t even get through to get through the initial process of the credit card application which seems to be very lengthy and they need a lot of information since they do not use your credit score which I do not understand I’d rather them use my credit score since I have such a great credit score anyways long story short I’m going to be closing my account with them and moving my bank elsewhere there’s nobody over seeing anyone at this bank and nobody seems to want to call me so good bye WSECU

Outstanding Institution! I conduct my everyday banking, have a credit card, and have or currently have various loans with WSECU. They are by far the best financial institution I've ever dealt with hands down. Everyone I've ever spoke with has been pleasant and gone out of their way to solve my issues. They have a customer for life in me!
