Had the worst experience with this company and buying a car in general. I totaled my car and used the whopping $2,000 I got from my insurance company to purchase a new used car. It was a 2011 kia forte the loan amount was 14550.37 w/ 21% interest . My credit was terrible but the dealership found me a loan I signed everything and they sent me home in the new car. Literally a week later I was told that the loan wasn't going to work out but they found me a new loan with western American and it had a higher interest rate which was the 21% I was referring to. if I wanted to keep the car I needed to come back and sign new paperwork which for some reason I decided to do. A few days later I was pulled over and told my license had been suspended for the last 3 years because apparently I took my interlock device out 1 day early but I never received a single letter stating that. I still don't understand how you can register a vehicle to an unlicensed driver but Regardless the car was impounded for 30 days which a requirement in AZ for a driver w/ suspended license. It cost me around $1200 to get it out of impound. Which in effect made my 1st car payment 13 days late. American western decided to repossess the vehicle on the 13th day. I'm aware its not illegal for them to do that. I did reread the contract I signed. However, it's highly unethical and crazy to me that they wouldn't have at least a 30 day grace period. I called them to negotiate the return of the vehicle. I talked to a very rude employee she told me the full amount of my loan is due immediately and the only alternate remedy would be to put up an additional $4000 as a down payment in which they would possibly consider refinancing my loan but there is no guarantee. Unable to sh*t money on demand they sold the car at auction for $8,995 then they filed a lawsuit demanding $6,687 from me plus accruing interest and attorney fees. which is the difference between what I paid and what they sold it for. Including impound fees and down payment I paid $3200 cash for a car I owned for 6 weeks, only drove for 2 weeks, had no money to get a new car, my credit was destroyed even further, I lost my job due to transportation problems. and I'm supposed to continue paying these people that essentially robbed me and made off with all the cash. I understand they have a business to run but have some compassion that was crazy.
