This bank is not a customer friendly bank whether banking online or in the branch. Online, the account transactions and balances are never accurate and in the branch the customer service is slow and very unprofessional. I was a customer of SDCCU for 25 years and I switched banks due to their lack of integrity and I will discourage anyone I know to bank with them.

Good luck talking to someone at SDCCU! It takes 2 hours or more to get someone on the phone. Every time I call I get a message "We're having unusually high activity..." Except that it's not *unusually high*, it's *always* high volume! Every time I call, I am given the option to have someone call me back and promised I "won't lose my place in line." The return calls always take at least 2 hours. If you send them an email question it will take 3 days to get a response. I've discovered that the trick is to get the extension to your local branch. You still might have to wait for someone but it's generally faster. Of course, if I call my local branch, I'm asked every single time if I want to talk to their financial adviser--which is also annoying. If I wanted your financial advise, I'd ask for it! It amazes me that every year SDCCU wins the best credit union award. Do they have all their employees vote? Are the other credit unions that bad? If it wasn't such a pain to move my accounts, I would have done it a long time ago.

I am a primary customer of chase bank but I have to admit that the interest rates on saving accounts of major banks sucks. Luckily, I went into a SDCCU branch near my house one day just to check out other options to store my money. The customer service was excellent since I was greeted and directed to an available person who could help me right away. The best part about is that the interest rates for their savings accounts are much much higher than chase or any other major banks. I went ahead and signed up for an account there. The online system lets me deposit my money from my checking account with chase to my savings account without ever having to leave my home. Overall, I recommend SDCCU's savings account due to their great customer service and high interest rates.

I've had an account with them for over 10 years and never had any issues. They offer a much higher interest rate than most, which is why I've stuck with them even though I don't live in San Diego anymore. I use Chase for my checking needs so that I have a local branch, but their online system is superb and very easy to use, which makes transferring money from my savings to my checking. I needed to use the customer service in order to transfer the main name on the account to my name from my mothers and the person I talked to was very knowledgeable and I was able to get my issue solved very quickly. I don't see myself closing my account anytime soon.

I used to use BoA but I recently switched over to the San Diego County Credit Union and I have to admit, I could not be more pleased. The interest rate here is better on the savings account, but it's really a negligible amount. The best part is, they treat me like a customer here. Someone will ask me how my day is, how I'm doing, or just the little things that make me feel like they enjoy my presence. The workers always seem cheerful and happy to help you when you ask them to. Overall, I don't think I want to go back to a big bank anymore, and I'll be sticking with the SDCCU for a while.

Trying to get your money back from a matured CD at this bank is like pulling teeth. Everyone at the bank, from the local branch to the 800 numbers, that told me what to do and how to do it didn't know what they were talking about! Even after acknowledging receipt of my notarized wiring instructions sent via overnight delivery, I was told the mail room has to sort it, along with 10,000 other pieces of mail it receives every day, then send it to the right floor and to the right person before it gets processed. Could take at least another 3-4 days. Meanwhile, of course, the bank has free access to my money without interest all that time. Think I'm going to call the banking commission.
