When I went to close my account, I was told I needed something notarized; which I cannot even afford until I start my new job. Just lacking compassion plus high fees. Stay away

What's Your Rating?
When I went to close my account, I was told I needed something notarized; which I cannot even afford until I start my new job. Just lacking compassion plus high fees. Stay away
First of all, the application process was very time consuming and required scanning and emailing documents and IDs. I also got different answers when I made follow up phone calls to their email re: non-receipt of my documents and IDS. I ended up rescanning and resending IDs altho this was unnecessary.
Secondly, they charge $3 for an electronic transfer. For an online checking account? Who does this anymore? Even Chase dropped this. They refunded the $3 after I emailed them thru their website.
Thirdly, there is a hold on electronic fund transfer deposits past the transfer date. The deposit appeared, grayed out & with a hold notation. After waiting 3 days, I used the funds to pay a bill. I got a letter a month later from Salem Five about this. The letter had no information about how many days they hold an electronic fund transfer deposit.
They don't respond right away to emails thru their website. There is at least a 2 day wait including weekends.
I don't recommend this bank AT ALL for online banking. It is hugely inefficient, time-consuming and costly. There are better online banks.
