KeyBank Mortgage Rates

We have been with Key Bank for 31 years. We went to the local Medford, Oregon, branch to set up our mortgage with Jeremy. We were told we could set up bi-monthly payments in order to pay off our mortgage quicker. We were then charged a subsequent late fee from Key Bank. When we called about the late fees, we were told not to worry about them and that they would be removed. Months later, we received a letter stating we owed over $400 in late fees. When we contacted corporate about the fees, they said they would look into it to work on getting the late fees dropped.

After not making any progress with the local branch, we have since contacted the 800 corporate offices, and we are still getting the runaround. Tony S (they don't give out last names to avoid accountability) said the late fees are being reviewed at the "highest department of escalation," but he continues to not have any answers after six weeks and counting. I get a weekly call from him telling me they are still reviewing the case. This is now Key Bank being evasive. I feel misled by corporate.

Side note: All the Key Bank locations here in Southern Oregon are sparse, with just a few employees at each branch. It's a ghost town when you walk in, completely understaffed. The Ashland location doesn't even have walk-up tellers.

Are they going out of business soon? I think so!

KeyBank is terrible at customer service and taking advantage of its customers. They waited over two years to inform me that I was behind on escrow, all due to their assessments. When I inquired to see if we had possibly caught up to avoid paying an extra $600 per month, they failed to follow up until I messaged them seven months later, only to discover that not only were we caught up but we had overpaid. I also had an appraisal done by US Bank and a verified appraiser, sent it in to try to get my $376 PMI dropped. They said the appraisal had to be done internally by them, and I had to pay $190 for someone to take pictures of my property and tell me that my $1,100 appraisal from US Bank, valuing my property at $614,000, was wrong and that my property was only valued at $525,000. It seems like a lowball internal appraisal to keep taking my money, as if it's not hard enough to make ends meet in this economy. Anyway, stay away from KeyBank and consider doing your mortgage through anyone else.

Worst lending company I have ever worked with in my life. This company will not work with you, care if your credit is impacted, or if you lose your home. To give them one star is too much. I have had other mortgage lenders that were way better and truly cared about their customers.

Wife passed away. It took 3 death certificates to prove she died. They don't have a clue which department is doing what. Do not deal with them.

Application always missing something even when we had professional help. This person, who assists people with paperwork, experienced it too. This bank has literally made us sick.

Horrible bank! Tried to get a HELOC from KeyBank; I have a credit score of 720 and my wife's score is 762. We didn't hear from them about the HELOC loan. I had to call them multiple times to find out what was going on. Finally, I contacted the loan officer, just to be told that I've been denied due to the debt-to-income ratio. That's the whole purpose of a loan: to consolidate credit card bills. What a waste of time and an inquiry. Terrible bank I don't want anything from them ever.

Same issues here. Their escrow accounting is non transparent. Lare fee charges non
transparent. Have to chase them down to pay the insurance premium and they still do not pay the bill. Customer sevice rarely answers emails and does not return messages. I have a commercial real estate loan with them. I have been contemplating calling the banking commissioner on them.

KeyBank Mortgage Loan Servicing. With automatic bill payer set up to pay our home loan each month our escrow amount changes without us knowing. The loan payment goes up by $300 and yet we keep paying the original amount. Because we are now not sending the full amount the system does not apply the money sent to the home loan and just holds it, begins charging late fees, AND starts sending credit agencies notifications that we are delinquent in payment. The best part is when KeyBank files to foreclose and sends threatening letters . . . this is the first notification we received regarding this matter.

Calling the Keybank Mortgage Loan Servicing folks . . . we are told it is completely our fault . . . KeyBank did it all "by the book."

This is a 300k loan secured by a 2.3 million dollar house. As usual KeyBank is a total joke. Don't do business with this company if you can help it.

If you value your money, stay away. Spurious fees, ridiculous lack of care about customer or relationship. I’ve spent huge time getting late fees reversed that were charged for on time payments. Seriously: stay away.

Inadequate systems. We have been assessed arbitrary late fees due to inadequate systems in the auto-pay mortgage process. Communications are not to industry standard (e-com vs. mail). Does not protect consumer data with 3rd parties. We had data breach with sensitive information shared. No offer of 3rd party fraud monitoring. Avoid this bank. We use many other institutions that are for more consumer oriented. Look elsewhere. We will not use this bank for any other reason than our mortgage (we would pay to move it if the rates were equitable)
