If you value your money, stay away. Spurious fees, ridiculous lack of care about customer or relationship. I’ve spent huge time getting late fees reversed that were charged for on time payments. Seriously: stay away.

Inadequate systems. We have been assessed arbitrary late fees due to inadequate systems in the auto-pay mortgage process. Communications are not to industry standard (e-com vs. mail). Does not protect consumer data with 3rd parties. We had data breach with sensitive information shared. No offer of 3rd party fraud monitoring. Avoid this bank. We use many other institutions that are for more consumer oriented. Look elsewhere. We will not use this bank for any other reason than our mortgage (we would pay to move it if the rates were equitable)

Spent hours with Key to move forward with a loan. Ultimately uncovered that the loan officer they’ve hired manipulate you for their gain. They deceived me into adding my wife without explaining to me the financial risk she would incur as a student. AVOID at all cost

I am a physician and I recently purchased a home with the help of Key Bank. The entire process took less than a month with minimal stress. May, Greg and Nicole were helpful, friendly and made the entire process seamless. I highly recommend you call Key Bank and see how they can help. The customer service was top notch and I am very happy to use them. In the future, I will return when purchasing a second home. Again, I can't thank Key Bank enough for their help and have referred a few friends to them as well. Shop around and ask if they can match your best offer, which they did for me. Happy house hunting!

I wish there was -5 star rating!! I was behind my mortgage payment due to Corona virus problem. I took the forbearance program. At the end I was ready to start making my payments, but they did not want to accept the payment, but rather foreclosure my house....saying I didn't qualify for any program. They wanted all the money at once or foreclosure...no matter what the law says. The law says they have to send the arrears to the end of the mortgage end-time. Customer service at Key bank are the worse in my opinion. There are some people there who are just waiting for a client to be in a littler bit of trouble to start sucking their blood like vampires.
There's a young guy there who was very nasty with me and just wanted to send my account to foreclosure with no interest to help me. I told these people that if they don't accept my payment I'm going to go to the county clerk to deposit my payment and ask a judge to look at my case....and that I could also go to a bankruptcy court I told them. Then a young woman came to the phone and arranged my payment right away. I wonder how many people lost their home because these people....they are not Americans. They are vampires!... in my opinion. I wish they sell my account to another institution. The minute I can refinance, I'll do it...just to see No KeyBank in my life.

On October 30, my husband went into a local branch of Key Bank to pay our mortgage. That check cleared on November 2. When we received our next statement at the end of the month, it showed the last payment as outstanding. Confused, we looked at our statement and it showed an obvious keystroke error that the money had been allocated to a different account. My husband called Key Bank, and they said they had to do an internal investigation, and wouldn't even take the wonky account number to check on. We then received a dunning call asking for payment two days later. They had "no record" of him calling. (Mind you, we pay an extra $300 per mortgage payment as well, so technically, we're ahead of schedule.) He explained the problem, and the woman on the phone still insisted on asking him when we planned on making the next payment. Next he went into the bank were a nice woman said she couldn't find a record of either interaction with Key Bank. She said she'd look through files there and make a report. She said she'd get back to us. We heard nothing a week later. He went into the bank again and they "hadn't found anything". He called them again... and THEY HAD NO RECORD OF INTERACTIONS AGAIN. These are just some highlights. It's a month later and this isn't resolved. This is the absolute worst kind of customer service. They will take your money and not provide any service. Well, my business banking has been with Key Bank for years. It's being removed after the first of the year.

KeyBank's Customer Support is HORRIBLE! Do not obtain a mortgage with them! They raised my mortgage payment without notice to cover an increase in taxes. So my regular payment was short. I contacted them to inquire why and they explained, but could not explain why they didn't advise of the increase in advance so I could plan accordingly. Then I paid the difference. They failed to "apply the payment" so my payment was sitting in their account as a credit for a month. That made my payment late and they reported it to the credit bureaus. When I contact to point out that I paid the shortfall, they indicated that payment was not applied. So apparently, if you get a mortgage with KeyBank, you need to pay them and then tell them what to do with the payment after they receive it. In addition, despite their failure to properly apply my payment, they refused to send a notice to the credit reporting bureaus that they made a mistake, failed to apply the payment, and that led to their erroneous reporting of a late payment. My credit is affected and KeyBank could care less. I will NEVER bank with them again and neither should you.

I approached Key Bank for a simple refinance with a very low loan to value - should have been an easy one for Key Bank. My Key Bank Mortgage broker assured me this would be no problem for Key Bank to do. After asking for mounds of financial information over 3 months I was told Key Bank could not do the refinancing AND the $500 I paid them to start this process was NON REFUNDABLE! I am unaware of any bank that charges you $500 to start a refinancing and to do it by making it in the very small print of their document. STAY AWAY from Key Bank Mortgage!!!!
