San Diego County Credit Union Mortgage Rates Reviews
What's Your Rating?
1.0 star rating 5/26/2021
I've been a member for 27 years and customer service has never been this bad. I recently refinanced my mortgage with SDCCU for my second home(cabin), with a cash-out.
The whole process was marred by poor communication and delay.
The original mortgage was held by SDCCU, so I thought the process would be easy and streamlined.
No.
My loan officer was not timely in responding to my inquiries and at one point was out of the office for a week. He kept promising to let me know when documents were ready for my review, but then I would check my account and documents had been sitting there for days, with no emailed notice from him.
The loan department is such a mess that they recently outsourced the loan services to a third party provider.
My loan closed, interest started accruing, but disbursement took three days because someone "forgot" to arrange for the wiring of cash out funds to my account. I had to call. Meanwhile, SDCCU pockets the interest for these three days. Additionally, SDDCU double dipped and charged me interest on the original mortgage and the new mortgage for an overlap of seven days (a couple days is understandable if it's a different institution and there's a delay in payoff). Finally, SDCCU charged me twice for the wiring fee (it's the little things like that add up).
I would not recommend SDCCU for home loans / refinance.
I've used Quicken Loans, Union Bank, and AmeriHome in the past, and never had these issues.
Still, no one has returned my calls or emails to explain what happened.
I feel like a State / Federal investigation may be warranted because these business practices seem either negligent or unlawful.
Not to worry, I received in the mail "Pay $0 Closing Costs, 5/5 Adjustable Rate Mortgage Loan". Unfortunately this offer is for "NEW" customers only. The cost for a loyal 22 plus year customer to refinance their home loan is approximately $6,000.00 to $8,000.00. That just goes to show that they don't really give a dam about their current loyal customers.
You can bet that I will be taking "ALL" of my banking business to a new place that values loyal customers.
