National General increased my premiums before my policy expired. I cancelled my policy and they charged me more for 10 days than I would normally pay in a month. Do not do business with them, you can get way better insurance rate elsewhere.

They apparently dropped comprehension coverage from my policy without notifying me never knew nothing about it till 2 months after the car got totaled the bill amount never changed Then they refused to cover the car. They tried to say you can’t have comprehension with an SR 22 but they had just fixed the car from deer damage not even six months prior.

Extremely Unprofessional and Disappointing Experience
I normally don't leave reviews, but my experience with National General Insurance (Allstate) has been incredibly frustrating. The level of unprofessionalism I have encountered is unacceptable. I called multiple times trying to resolve an issue that was clearly caused on their end, and instead of getting help, I was met with attitude and a complete lack of accountability.
The receptionist I spoke with—who I later found out wasn't even my assigned agent—wasted nearly 30 minutes of my time and handled my frustration in a rude and unprofessional manner. Rather than listening or trying to fix the problem, she made the situation worse.
I have already received two cancellation letters and have made several attempts to get this issue corrected, yet nothing has been resolved. The communication here is terrible, and it's obvious that customer service is not a priority for them.
Honestly, I do not recommend National General Insurance (Allstate) to anyone. I am stuck with them for now because I don't have many options, but if you do—take your business elsewhere. Save yourself the stress and find a company that actually treats its customers with respect and professionalism.

"I dislike this insurance company because I paid my $1000 deductible and only received $360 back.
The situation involved two other cars colliding and causing a domino effect, with one of them then hitting my parked car (I was not in my car or even present). When I told the responsible party's insurance that I wanted my car fixed, they responded that the claim amount had exceeded their coverage limits and that they were working with each individual's car insurance to resolve the matter. My insurance, National General, advised me to pay my deductible of $1000 to get my vehicle fixed and assured me that since I was not involved, I would be reimbursed. I questioned this as the other party's insurance had indicated that the claims were way over what they could cover. National General assured me that I would recover my funds after the claims were resolved.
Communication throughout the process was poorly handled. I was understandably upset because of the time it took to fix my car, the request for payment to begin repairs, and being misled about reimbursement.
After a year, the adjuster informed me that I would only receive $360 back from my deductible due to insufficient funds to cover all three cars involved in the accident. I was enraged by this and threatened to sue them. The representative scoffed and said that there were no further funds available.
I reconsidered my options and decided to accept the $640 loss. Although I was confident I would win a lawsuit, it would involve more stress and time. Ultimately, my truck was somewhat fixed, albeit not by the best repair service due to insurance issues and out-of-pocket expenses. In conclusion, my truck is cosmetically restored and operational, so I have decided to leave this honest account of my experience with National General. With only two more months until my insurance plan expires with them, I am certain that I will not renew my policy.

Charge a ridiculous amount if you change insurance for canceling. I paid over $400 for 6 months of insurance. When I married, we combined our insurance and ended up with a cheaper quote from Progressive. We did this in the last month of my insurance, which was paid in full, but because the insurance broker, Goggins, canceled instead of letting it just lapse in a couple of weeks, National General charged me another $50. Tired of getting ripped off.

This is the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. I just spent an hour on hold and I still have not spoken to anyone. Someone hit my son's car and totaled it, yet I still had to pay the full insurance until the claim was settled. Now I'm trying to remove the car and no one wants to answer the call. What if it were an emergency?

After being with National General Insurance Company for two years, I was surprised to see my premium increase by nearly $100 without any prior notice or discussion. I discovered the change while reviewing my bank account, where I noticed the higher charge had been withdrawn without my consent.
I contacted customer service three times, and each agent gave me conflicting information. Frustrated, I spoke with a friend and switched to a new insurance provider that now saves me $120 monthly. I officially canceled my policy on October 10th.
Today, I called to inquire about my refund and was told it would take 10 days to issue a check, followed by another 10 days for delivery—a total of 20 days. I asked why the refund couldn't be processed directly to my account, and the response was vague and unconvincing.
This experience has left me deeply disappointed. The lack of transparency and inconsistent communication makes the company feel untrustworthy. I do not recommend National General Insurance to anyone.

Terrible experience with National General Insurance. After a total loss accident, they tried to deny my claim, stating I didn't have coverage, even though I did. The adjuster was extremely unhelpful, only responding to texts and refusing to take calls. They didn't even notify my bank about the total loss; my bank had to reach out to them. The whole process was a nightmare. And get this—they charged me for adding my 13-year-old son to the policy as if he were an adult. Total mess.

Worst insurance ever! Don't waste your time. Adjusters don't call you back, they don't give you a copy of the pre/post scans so they can claim that the mechanical problems are not covered (just the body work), and that it was preexisting when the problems didn't occur until the time of the accident. They also put a salvage title on my car without telling me, never fixed it, or paid the lienholder for the total loss. Now I'm out thousands. Scammers!

National General is the worst insurance company I have ever seen. My car had been broken down for 4 months. I just paid my premium; it was only a couple of days from the date I paid it to the date I canceled my insurance. They never gave my payment back; they kept it and they charged my account another $7.00 this month. It's the most dishonest company I've ever seen, absolutely horrible.

I hate giving one star! Be cautious when dealing with this company, as my experience has been far from trustworthy. I was overcharged twice due to delays in processing payments, despite a scheduled date that fell on a regular weekday—not a weekend. Their inconsistent practices suggest they manipulate or delay payment dates to create unnecessary issues, often leading to additional fees. In one case, they claimed to pull the payment several days late, causing complications with other scheduled bills. My bank records clearly confirm that they failed to process payments on the agreed-upon contract date, yet they provided numerous excuses to justify their actions. Their autopay system appears unreliable, perhaps intentionally designed to generate extra charges when payments are deemed 'late.' If your due date is the 26th, they might wait until the 29th, leaving you at risk of overdrafts or late fees. To make matters worse, their platform restricts screenshots, forcing customers to use alternative devices to document evidence. This lack of transparency raises serious concerns about the integrity of their operations. I would strongly recommend exploring other companies, as this one operates with little regard for fairness or accountability. Their practices seem deliberately geared toward profiting from their customers' misfortunes. Those who encounter similar issues should report their experiences to ensure awareness and accountability so fewer individuals fall victim to such deceptive tactics. Choose a provider that values honesty and respects its customers.

My car was totaled back in July. I had comprehensive coverage, but now, two months later, when they finally wrap up the claim, they say they don't cover the car because I didn't have comprehensive coverage due to an SR-22 on my policy. However, they covered the car when a deer ran into it back in January. I was never notified of the coverage change, and the price of the bill never changed. Nothing they have said has made any sense to me or my insurance agent; it just sounds like a bunch of excuses not to pay anything.

They are rated A+ financially because they don't pay out claims. As a new customer, I went to use my comprehensive policy for a hit-and-run, and they told me I lied, that it was my fault, and refused my claim altogether. It's cheap insurance because they don't pay out.
