I WAS MISLEAD BY DELTA REPRESENTATIVE OVER LOST AND DESTROYED SUITCASE. TOTAL LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM.
1 - I was the Best man in a wedding in the island of Paros in Greece of my high school friend on 6/24/22. It was a destination wedding, so I had 4 days of festivities planned. All my clothes for those 4 days were in my checked bag. 2 - I flew DELTA ONE and landed in Athens however my CHECKED SUITCASE NEVER ARRIVED. All I had with me was a small backpack with a few personal items. 3 - I had to borrow clothes because there were no shops open at the time I arrived. It was very infuriating to have wait years (the original wedding was in 2020 as you can imagine it had to be postponed) for that special moment and all I had was borrowed clothes that didn't even fit me. 4 - On 6/25 I called Delta to understand what happened and check my rights. (I have the call time to retrieve the recording). On a recorded line the Delta representative DID NOT GIVE me any limit on how much I could spend. I was only told I should buy what I needed and save the receipts. And I did was I was oriented. I was lucky enough to find a shop at this small island that sold things I could wear in the wedding and the other events. But I also needed underwear, sandals, shoes, toothbrush, basically I had almost nothing with me. 5 - For the next days I called Delta trying to find my suitcase. No one could tell me where it was. Finally, it was found in Boston and sent to Athens. It took a few more days for it to be delivered to me. (I have call logs of those conversations). Once again, on a recorded line I was not told any cash limit, just that I had to keep the receipt of my expenses. 6 - 6 days later it arrives completely BROKEN (I took many pictures and sent to Delta). Wheels were missing or broken, both handles were broken and there was a 10 inches crack on the back of it. Due to the total miscarriage of my suitcase that should have been dropped many times, the electric razor that I was carrying was also broken. 7 - I had to call Delta again and after waiting for hours, I was once again oriented to buy the new suitcase and file the complain. 8- Now, I am back home and I am outraged by the fact that after going thru all that stress and irritation, after multiple hours wasted on the phone with Delta, I am told that only $1,694 is going to be reimbursed. 9 - I had spent roughly 4,250 USD plus 533 USD in a new luggage and $249 in a new electric razor. Delta is refusing to take responsibility over the cost of 5,032 USD I had to pay out of pocket. I was MISLEAD by Delta representatives that never told me any monetary limit. And now Delta wants me to bare the cost of their lack of professionalism
