I have been a customer of 1st Summit in some capacity for most of my adult life. I used to value their personal service, and repeatedly chose 1st Summit products over a competitor's bank, regardless of better rates because of my appreciation. Due to two recent, and very poor experiences, I will be changing directions and banks.
I have had two customer service agents who I was working with on two separate matters take 3-4 months to complete the tasks and I had to do the prompting for information or forward motion.
I unnecessarily spent hundreds of dollars early in a process to 3 months later be denied. This rep, kept pushing off what one other banks told me within a week. This rep, even after three repeated phone calls/emails within 2 months, did not recall who I was, the loan amount, our conversations, loan purpose, nor how the online banking system was actually set to work.
The second rep, had a seemingly simple task, but even a simple response or call back to 2 of my initial 3 calls within 3 weeks was met with excuses of non-response. Every email or message began with and apology for an untimely response and a rationalization for non-forward movement.
I get better rates, better percentage of approval, more timely service and task completion, with the same lapse of personalized and individualized service, and evaluation with online products. Evidently, relationships in money are a thing of the past, as will be loyalty to a product or institution, but I guess it's just business.
