The situation is complicated; they are not helping customers, and they are refusing to pay the claim even after receiving all the evidence of the problem.

My phone stopped working, so I contacted T-Mobile and was advised that my phone had been blocked by Assurant. I contacted Assurant, and they stated that I had requested a new phone, which is why my phone had been blocked. I informed them that I had not requested a new phone. They acknowledged that it was a fraudulent claim and assured me that nothing had to be done on my end. They confirmed that they stopped the new phone from being charged and that my phone would be unlocked in 2 to 3 business days. I am now on day 9, and my phone is still blocked. I have spoken to several managers and supervisors, and no one helps. I had 2 separate phone calls with T-Mobile on the line listening to Assurant's response, and the T-Mobile reps were astonished by Assurant's response and how they are handling this situation. They have escalated it on their end, stating that it is unacceptable for customers to receive this kind of response. One star is way too high for what they actually deserve. After 5 different calls, all end the same: they promise the phone would be unlocked the next day, yet nothing happens. Now they are saying it will take 2 more days.

My refrigerator went out, and I had to use Geico's renters insurance, which is Assurant. Of course, it is; they, “insure” most American companies. I put in a claim and received a letter back letting me know someone was looking into it with a number to reach them. The funny thing is, they can't be reached by number or email. I've tried contacting them several times. I've received email returns and was sent on a wild goose chase on the phone.
I've contacted the BBB, even tried to rate them through an old email, which was returned as well. Where is the accountability? I mean, this is only some food in my refrigerator, but what happens when something devastating actually happens?
It's been since this summer that this happened, and I've received no resolution. It's shameful; they get a monthly payment from me and couldn't be bothered.

Do not use this fly-by-night company! I bought a couch in Springfield, Missouri, from a very low-end furniture store, and I was aware of that. It's like a very small sectional. It's very cheaply made, so I bought a five-year warranty plan. I'm not even two years into having my couch and the cushions are bowed; they sink down in the middle. I submitted multiple claims to my insurance warranty company about the cushions. When I bought the couch, they told me they cover everything—every single thing—if there's just a scratch on it, they would fix it, even a stain. And something as simple as the cushions are bowed, they denied each and every one of my claims. I'm not even two years into this five-year warranty, and this company is terrible. Do not use this company. If you plan to ever file a claim, you'll never get it.

I bought a truck over the summer, and the transmission recently started shifting into 1st gear while driving. I thought it would be a straightforward claim to get approved, but after a week at the repair shop, I was told it was denied because "service repair documents were written in pen."
This car has been meticulously maintained throughout its entire life. I also noticed there is a previous claim on my profile that I did not initiate. The truck had an issue after I purchased it and was repaired by the dealer, apparently under my warranty.
I am currently working with a warranty assistance attorney (who will recoup fees) and will continue writing negative reviews on all platforms for the dealer and Assurant sites until the claim is reversed and coverage is honored.

This isn't my opinion; it's the facts. A tree fell and struck my residential electricity line, causing my personal electricity pole to snap in half. Consequently, I was left without power. I'm currently on the 17th day of trying to get reimbursed for the out-of-pocket expenses incurred to restore my electricity supply. Fortunately, I had the financial means to cover these costs. However, this situation would have been even more challenging if I hadn't had the funds. The Homeowners Insurance company that I pay monthly seems to be taking its time reviewing my claim, which is frustrating.

The Worst Experience I've Ever Had — Take Your Money Elsewhere
I have never filed a renter's claim before, and I truly did not imagine it would be anything like this. My experience with Assurant Renters Insurance has been nothing short of horrible: no communication, no status updates, and no real help when it mattered most.
## What Happened
- Date of loss: 10/23 — Stage 2 water damage from a broken CPVC pipe on my neighbor's hot water side. - Damage: Hot, unsanitary water ruined my clothing and personal items. - Immediate response from Assurant: None. I couldn't get ahold of anyone despite multiple attempts. - First real contact: 11/11 — and only after I posted multiple times on the company's private social media page did someone finally reach out. - Inspection: They said they wanted to come out and inspect—but by that point, it had been over 15 days since the loss. - What they expected: That I hold onto water-damaged, unsanitary items for an extended period. - Resolution: As of today, 11/28, there is still no resolution.
## Why This Is Unacceptable
1. Zero proactive communication I received no timely updates, no clear point of contact, and no status on next steps. I had to chase them—publicly—just to get a callback.
2. Excessive delays It took more than two weeks to even get to the "we'll come inspect" stage. With water damage, time matters. The longer you wait, the worse it gets.
3. Health and safety concerns ignored Expecting me to retain hot-water-soaked, unsanitary items for weeks is unreasonable and unsanitary.
4. No support during a stressful loss A renter's policy should provide help and guidance. Instead, I felt abandoned and dismissed.
## The Impact
- Destroyed clothing and personal items from hot-water exposure. - Continued uncertainty and stress due to a claim dragging on with no clear path to resolution. - Time wasted trying to reach anyone who could help.
## Bottom Line
This has been the worst renter's insurance experience I've ever had. If you value communication, timely action, and basic respect for your health and property, take your money elsewhere. I would not recommend Assurant Renters Insurance to anyone based on this experience.
As of 11/28, there is still no resolution to my claim from the 10/23 water loss. If you're dealing with similar issues, consider filing a complaint with the Bureau of Insurance. Consumers deserve better than this.

They are so bad that the postal clerk behind the counter will warn you that Assurant by T-Mobile is notorious for "losing" or "not receiving" the returned phone and make sure you keep a copy of the tracking number and receipt. I thought that was strange, but he must see that issue a lot. The funny thing is at a BBQ, my coworker had the same experience. That is how widespread this problem is.
Expect them to "lose" your phone and then charge you double the value for an unreturned phone. Then, when you provide tracking and get the Postal Police involved, suddenly they will find it, only to tell you that your credit will appear on your phone bill in two months.
Another time, someone was able to convince them that I had moved states; they did not verify personal information or question why T-Mobile still had the other address on file. Anyway, they sent the phone to New York, but I have never nor will I ever live there. It took six months and hours of phone calls to T-Mobile, law enforcement, and the "customer service" at Assurant to get it resolved. In the meantime, it temporarily damaged my credit and nearly cost me my cell phone account, plus the overall frustration knowing that Assurant's employee was lazy and caused the issue to begin with.
Avoid if you can. It's not worth it.

They lost my return phone and charged me $370. Then they wouldn't allow us to return the original phone, which was defective. This company is opportunistic and takes advantage of customers while delivering substandard refurbished equipment.

This company should not be in business! I would give them zero stars if I could. My dwelling cost increased by almost $200K for no reason at all. It went from $505K to $693K in one year, which is absolutely ridiculous! I completed the Home Assessment form they sent me, and they did nothing to correct the incompetent underwriter they used for my renewal. I have owned a home for over 30 years and have never seen such a scam from an insurance company! Geico should not use them as one of their insurance partners, and I'm now planning to pull both my Homeowners and Auto policy to get a better rate. I have been with Geico for over 25 years for both auto and homeowners coverage. I've checked with other Home Owner insurance companies, and no one understood how they came to a dwelling increase of almost $200K. This has cost me an additional $729 in homeowner premiums, and my mortgage went up by almost $80.00 per month due to this incompetence. Whatever software they are using is to scam Homeowners with these ridiculous dwelling costs. The customer service is very poor, and no one will follow up via email, despite them saying they would reach back out to me in five days. It was over a month, and I had to call them and wait on hold for almost 30 minutes for them to tell me they're not going to do anything. Don't use this company unless you want to get scammed and ripped off.

Absolutely useless. Worst company ever. Lost thousands of dollars of items because of a flood/ceiling collapse and they did absolutely nothing. First playing games with you and pretending they’ll help you. I did all this work to get them every piece of information and then a MONTH later they decided they didn’t want to cover anything. Cancelling my policy. You guys are the worst. Going back to State Farm where they actually help you.

Assurant Warranty is the worst company ever; do not pay money to get a warranty from this company. They are scammers who will never honor your vehicle's warranty. Nick, the so-called manager, is a lazy scammer who has an excuse for every reason not to cover your vehicle. Worst company ever; don't waste your money. They will scam you too.

Renters insurance policy was canceled after filing a single claim in 3 years for roughly $500 after a theft from a vehicle (I live in San Francisco). Who would have known that actually using your insurance would cause a cancellation? I suggest avoiding the hassle and looking elsewhere. I bundled this under my Geico auto insurance, and knowing this now, I will be moving all my insurance policies elsewhere.

Opened up a renter's insurance claim on September 29 for water damage in my apartment. The adjuster keeps giving me the runaround. She's waiting on a work order instead of just reaching out to the property manager. I need to cancel my renter's insurance because it hasn't been helpful at all. They are a joke. Please do not get any insurance through them.

They lack basic common sense. A fellow passenger with a different booking reference but on the same flight received their claim in 7 days. They kept me waiting for 4 months before rejecting my claim for the very same flight. It's sheer discrimination. They claim the cancellation reason is not covered, yet they don't reply as to why my friend received his claim for the same flight. I even shared his approval letter. However, the executive resolution team is even more ineffectual than the adjusters. They lack common sense and the basic application of thought. No wonder their reviews are poor and reflect the way they operate.
I am planning to complain on the grounds of discrimination.
