We had our Homeowners Insurance with Higginbotham. When it was time for renewal they changed us to another company and in doing so they also changed our coverage. Our original policy had a 2% deductible and the new policy had a 5% deductible. We were never sent a copy of the new policy until months later when we had a loss and at that time had to request a copy of the policy that should have been mailed to us at renewal. That is when we saw they had changed our coverage. The Texas Dept of Ins. states an insured must be given a written notice of coverage changes with a written explanation which they did not do. Then they lied to the TDI and stated they had told us of the changes and it was on the policy (which we did not receive at the time of renewal). They never sent a written notice of the change with the explanation and are not accepting any responsibility for their negligence or misconduct regarding this case. Buyer beware they are underhanded in their handling and morally corrupt. They have cost me thousands of dollars. I acted in good faith and paid in case the whole $3,000+ premium paying for coverage I was led to believe I had only to find out they are self-serving and have no regard for their customers. It's very sad to do business with a company you thought was upstanding only to find out they are not.
