I would like to give the manager at the Langhorne Road branch an outstanding review. His name is Anthony Mantiply. He was very helpful, friendly, and courteous. He is very good at his job. Thank you so much, Anthony.

Mrs. Karon Felts, Branch Manager of the Carter Bank in Hillsville, VA, does an outstanding job. She always goes the extra mile for her customers. Although she is the Branch Manager, Karon will perform tasks for customers that she could delegate to tellers and other staff. When you do your banking with Karon, it is as if you are banking with a trusted friend. She treats your money responsibly as if it were her own. She uses good, old-fashioned common sense!

I have been banking with Carter Bank for over 20 years. It was a sad day when the branch closed in Fayetteville, NC. The branch in Raleigh has the same hometown feeling. The tellers and managers are friendly and very helpful. I would recommend this bank to those who like personal customer service that is so rare to find in today's world.

Beware; competitive rates, however, this bank is not sophisticated enough to transfer CD funds to your checking account on the maturity date; it requires a paper check to be mailed. They have twice lost my check. Customer service line always picks up, but their service representatives are not well trained and rarely are able to assist with questions.

My mother has been banking here for year. She has her checking her IRA cds and has never had a problem. It’s a great home town bank

So I've used Carter bank and trust for years and otherwise have had no issues. However this is a pretty major one so it warrants a review because this is the 2nd time this has happened. While traveling I tried to accept some money that my son had sent me through fb, and it said "can't process call your bank" so I did thinking it's a fb issue because I just bought breakfast. WRONG my card had been turned off due to a dispute from almost 2 months ago. A dispute in which I am the victim. Keep in mind Carter is ONLY in VA and NC and I'M IN ILLINOIS!!!!! Even after begging them to turn it back on because that's the only card I have and have very little cash and I'm 4 STATES away!! NOPE won't turn it back on. How am I expected to get home?? It's not like I can run by the bank for cash or a new card. They do not care. Best of luck to me and my children that suppose to be on vacation and don't even have access to gas money to get back home!!

When I moved to Martinsville, VA, I opened an account at Carter Bank in this town. I am highly disappointed. My health has not been good and some time ago I sent a friend to deposit some funds. He met with resistance, but jumped through their many hoops in order to help me. For the past year I have been disabled, unable to attend to my finances from a rehab facility. They locked my account due to inactivity and began siphoning funds from my account. Finally home and able to attend to my own finances, I sent the same friend today to deposit funds. According to their previous written communication to me, this would reactivate my account, but no. He was told I would have to come in in person to do this. That would entail me hiring a medical transport and wheeled bed to get there. The teller ripped up my deposit slip (one I purchased, thank you, not one they had provided to me). I have never been treated so shabbily by a financial institution. They should make new customers aware that they are only welcome if healthy and able-bodied. So now they will steal the few funds I have left there. It is a shame that a rating less than one is not available.

They do not contact you, have hidden fees, and give you incorrect information when you call in. I would not recommend them with so many superior choices available.
