We've been waiting for Cenlar to send us a check for over six years! We requested the check over a month ago, again, and they still haven't sent it. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with them today. They refused to do anything but send another check, two months from now. Their refusal to administer the check has me considering legal action, the last thing I wanted to do. They just don't want to send the check that they owe us!

Horrible company. They made an internal error that cost us an $1,838.00/month increase to our mortgage payments because they messed up our escrow. We were sent a statement that we owe $13,303.00 and that our monthly payment would double.
They are incredibly rude and unprofessional and do not care about customer service at all.

I never know how much my next payment will be. Five years ago, my payment was around $145; now, it is around $230. They are deceiving. The interest rate is over 10%. It's the worst company on the planet. Do not deal with them.

I have been trying to close my (paid off!) HELOC for the last 2 years... it is impossible!! They only use FAX - yes it is 2023!!! - and wont answer you! It is the WORST lender you can get... NEVER EVER use them... it is a curse on your finance!

This is without question the worst mortgage company I've ever dealt with in all my years. Avoid them if at all possible. Terrible customer service. They do not care about their customers at all. They made a mistake with our payment and would not own up to it. They literally sent our money back for no reason after it was auto-drafted. No changes to any of the account or banking info. Just sent it back, no explanation, and then once the account was 30 days late, they reported us to the 3 credit bureaus. We didn't know they had sent the money back (secondary home). I argued with them in writing and put way more time and effort into it than I should have but it was a matter of principal as they screwed up. However, they blamed it on us and made no effort to correct. This affected my credit score which was excellent prior.
So, in short, we paid them, they sent the payment back for no reason (even though it was sent exactly as the other 10+ payments had been sent), they then considered us late after 30 days (they had the wrong mailing address and phone number, so we never got any notice) then reported it to all 3 credit bureaus. I provided proof in writing as requested, it showed they had drafted the payment and sent it back, however, they stood by their decision and would not correct their own mistake. All we wanted them to do was to retract the late payment notice they reported.
Avoid them like the plague. There's a reason they have such a low rating. Too bad zero stars isn't an option.

Cenlar: Run Away. Quickly. Folks, I have had many mortgages and they were all fine on my past 6-7 homes. But Cenlar is abhorrent and should frankly be shut down. At every stage, they hike up interest rates (read the fine print!), tack on fees, and make it virtually impossible to close your account. "We don't take pay-off checks. We don't take pay-off ACH transfers." They do not provide full pay-off instructions because they don't want you to pay your loan off. If I was an attorney, or rich enough to afford one, Class Action lawsuit. My biggest mistake? Not reading the other reviews here before working with Cenlar. Don't make my mistake.

So I before my grandmother died in May 2019 she sent paperwork to add me it never got done. Now I have been trying to get the property in my name then Covid hit. I called about assuming the loan since I was living with her I still live here they said they would send me a packet found out that was incorrect information. Was told I needed to send in certain documents and that they are on backlog and it is a long process and can take a while. My concern is about time anything gets done they may try and foreclose on the property. Is there anyone who have any Idea about the Assumption process. This has been almost a three year back and forth with them.

Terrible customer service today! My father passed away in 2009. I was given his mobile home including the debt. In 2010 I gave Cenlar all of the information they needed including a copy of the will. I have never in 12 years had troubles speaking with someone about my account. On September 30th the loan was paid in full. I spoke to someone about four days after it was paid off. The person communicated that I would receive a document stating that it had been paid off to get the title. He said it would be be a week to 10 days. It has been 21 days now. I called today and was told I couldn’t get any information unless I knew my fathers social security number. I have for 12 years communicated with them using my SS#. The young man proceeded to tell me that on my last communication I was told they would not speak to me unless I gave that to them. I asked him for the date that I was told that. He said he didn’t have one, it’s just company policy. So he lied, and I told him so. He then transferred me to someone that “handles theses accounts”. When I was transferred I was asked by the man how I was doing. I told him I was frustrated. I got total silence to the point I finally asked if he was still there. He said yes. and proceeded to ask how he could help me. No, I’m sorry let me see if I can help you nothing. I asked he had been told why I was calling or would I need to repeat everything. He said the person only told him a little bit. I told him my problem. He said they don’t control the post pffice escalating his voice louder. I told him I would like another one mailed ou. He put me on hold and came back and said he would email it to me. As of now it has not been. This is the worst customer service I have had! My father passed in 2009 and I pay off the loan 12 years later and. now they can’t communicate with me???? They only get one star because that’s my only option.

This place is a joke and will rob you of your own home. Very unprofessional customer service even when they get you to the appropriate department you think you’re getting somewhere and you’re only getting yourself more into issue after issue someone needs to come forward and look into this so called servicing administration and get to the bottom of what is really going on and audit these people. No one knows what they’re doing if it’s Friday they’re going to run out the office early no communication whatsoever this is true highway robbery if you are trying to sell your home they will stall and wait and wait until it leads you into the foreclosure status especially being a veteran after 23 years of service this is not how anyone should be treated. It’s such a shame I would hate to wake up every morning and go to work for a place like this that has such awful reviews and someone needs to get to the bottom of this please if you’re ever having to be associated with them such as servicing your loan refinance immediately and run away before it’s too late.

The buck never stops at Cenlar. No one is accountable. No one is responsible. I regret having to give Cenlar as much as one star. They deserve NONE. As others here have said, stay away from this crappy, astonishingly incompetently run company. My mortgage was initially handled by Citimortgage, and I never had any problems with them. When my mortgage got too small to be worth their while, they palmed me off on Cenlar. Why would a well established company like Citimortgage, a branch of a high profile and internationally known company like Citibank, hand their business over to a company that they must have known THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU gave a ONE STAR RATING? (I found out just by googling Cenlar, so it's not like it's some state secret.)
I contacted Cenlar literally over a month ago with a very simple issue which they could have resolved easily with one phone call and one email to document our communication. But I have had to call more than 10 times in the past month, and each time I get a different person. It's clear within a minute or two that employees have not been trained, do not have access to any more than basic information, so they literally CANNOT help, and do not even use the same terminology among themselves. Three days in a row they told me they were having computer problems, and could not bring up my info. What reputable company is so poorly run that allows its business to be disrupted by computer issues three days in a row? Yesterday I emailed them documentation with evidence to back my claim, and they responded by asking me if I wished to recast my loan. I did not, and from my letter and 10 pages of documentation it was crystal clear what I did want to do. Cenlar also gave me two numbers to fax the documentation to. One of them is not functioning. I'm lucky I can fax from home. If I'd had to use Fedex, it would have cost me over $20. This is part of Cenlar's plan: who will pursue an issue if they can't afford the time and money required to send a 10 page fax? Who demands faxes anymore anyway, except obstructionist companies?
I have since contacted my state senator, my state assembly member and my city council member to let them know of Cenlar's shoddy customer service. The word service should not be used in the same sentence with the name Cenlar. Stay away!!! And if you don't have that option, if you are also having problems, consider contacting your elected officials.
