This is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. After canceling them for increasing my rates, they continued to withdraw money from my account. I filed a grievance with their arbitrator only to find out they are the arbitrator. I closed the account that they had been withdrawing money from, and now I am being billed for services they never provided me. Do not ever let this company have access to your bank account. This company is affiliated with AAA. I would expect better.

I’ve been trying to create an online account for 3 months now. I’m receiving an error each time I try. When I contact customer service about it, they tell me they’ll get back to me within 72 hours. They never once got back to me, and I’ve contacted them about this simple issue over 5 times. Most ridiculous customer service experience I have ever had.

Horrible customer service! They won't answer calls. They put you on hold forever. I'm trying to file a mini-tort to recover my deductible, which I can't do online. I've been on hold three times for over 30 minutes, and nobody answers. I have a claim number and was told they would reach out to me. Obviously, they have not. So now I'm stuck waiting indefinitely.

They absolutely do not meet expectations. It appears that one side (customer service) has no idea what the other side (claims) is doing, and they can't figure it out. I experienced a total loss that was paid off by them, yet they continued to bill me for the insurance.
When I called them to explain that they are billing me for a vehicle that they paid off and for which I signed over the title to them, they were very confused and could not match the correct vehicle and refused to make the necessary changes to my insurance.
How an insurance company could pay off a vehicle and not automatically remove it from being insured is baffling – they took over the car and the title after the payoff, so this is not complicated.
Poor, poor company. They received a one-star rating because a zero-star option is not available.

We thought it would be a good insurance, but were we wrong. We just finished our 6 months and assumed, like with any other insurance, that the payments would continue to be withdrawn from our account. Well, no, it didn't happen. They change your policy number every six months, and then you have to pay double your insurance amount. They let us down terribly. They cancelled our insurance and caused an elapse, adding to our difficulties. They didn't even want to offer assistance. I cannot believe how I was treated by Meemic. I inquired with other insurance companies about the policy number changing every six months, and they had never heard of such a practice. Even my app displays the old policy number. It's been an emotional ordeal for our family. I had high hopes, especially since they support schools, that it would be a beneficial service. I always paid my policy on time. Yet, this is the treatment we received. The supervisor was unhelpful and didn't even attempt to resolve our issues. They knew they were in the wrong, but they didn't care about anything other than their profits.

If you want to feel hopeless, helpless, unheard, uncared for, and left out to dry when you experience a major loss, Meemic is the way to go. We lost our home to a fire over a year ago. The claim process was difficult at every step of the way; the adjuster was unkind, uncaring, and unhelpful. He failed to inform us of important things we should have done in order to make our claim successful. He was so difficult to work with that we felt forced to hire a public adjuster. After no progress for months on end, our claim had to go to an umpire to be decided. We ended up being left about $20K short of completing the repairs. We had to take out personal loans to get our house rebuilt. This is not what you expect to happen when you lose everything you own in a fire, but that is the reality with Meemic.
We had been lifelong Meemic customers for renters, auto, and homeowners insurance over the years. We will never give them our business again. If I could have given zero stars on the rating, I would have.

Communication is horrible. I left several messages with them, and it took five business days to get back to me. They are not helpful when you have a problems the lady that works in the Kalamazoo office is rude, takes her several days to respond back via email. They don't get active until you close that insurance. Go somewhere else for insurance purposes, no one has time for that.

Car repair estimate review is a ridiculously slow process with Meemic. I previously had Progressive, and that process took 1 day. It has now been 5 days, and when I called, Meemic said they have not done any evaluation of the estimate yet. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Meemic claims to support teachers, but they won't hesitate to screw you and leave you in a difficult situation! Recently, I bought a new home and Meemic canceled my policy due to "risks with physical conditions that present an extreme likelihood of significant loss." They never asked me to remove a wood-burning stove or to put up a railing, which both met code requirements. They simply canceled my policy via mail. I called twice to find out what should be done and received no response. Stay away from this company unless they are presenting a check for your classroom.

Horrible Company!
After reading through all the reviews, this all makes sense. I recently filed a claim for rock damage on my vehicle due to driving through a construction zone. The adjuster came out and said this didn't happen and they are not paying for it. He went on to say that for every chip on each side of the vehicle, I would need to file a separate claim. He essentially implied that I was attempting to get the vehicle fixed up. In other words, he called me a liar. They refuse to pay for damage to your property. He spoke to me very rudely, with no regard for anything.On several occasions, I asked him to show me how this could not have happened; he said he didn't have to and that they were only paying for one piece. In all my years of having insurance, I've never felt so insulted and humiliated. I even called his supervisor; do you think we received a callback? So as you are reading this review, and every other review you can see that they do not pay out claims and they will basically call you a liar. They will take your money every month. Good luck getting what you pay for. I'll be reaching out to my insurance broker to get new insurance.

I've been a member for nearly 25 years. I experienced damage to my bumper from someone rear-ending my vehicle. They deemed the car a total loss. I haven't been able to get my car back from Meemic's certified shop to take it for an estimate elsewhere. It has been one week, and I still don't have my van. I just want my vehicle fixed or they can replace the vehicle as their own website promises: "Collision car insurance is auto insurance that provides coverage for the loss to a vehicle caused by an auto accident. Collision coverage reimburses the insured for the cost of repairs or the replacement of a vehicle after an auto accident." They are offering $3,000 less than what it would cost to replace the car by using the values of vehicles sold months ago with no knowledge of the actual condition of the cars they are referencing. Whether I have GAP coverage or not is irrelevant. You need to actually cover what you say you will cover. I recommend not using Meemic. Not allowing me to retrieve a vehicle that I own, and was driving during the 1.5 months it took to get my car into Meemic's certified shop, is disgraceful if not illegal.
