They tried to explain why I wasn't getting a refund. The biggest load of nonsense I have heard in a while. All payments were made on time over the last 4+ years. A very complicated reason for keeping my money, and when I asked for the explanation in writing, they refused. What are they hiding? They said, "Let your agent explain it." Plus, they made a mistake and reported that we had an at-fault accident, which we didn't, and it affected our new premium cost. STAY AWAY.

There should be a minus five rating for companies like this. Our family vehicle was rear-ended more than 54 days ago in San Antonio, TX. They acknowledged the claim, accepted fault, and said they would follow up. We have been calling and sending emails, making all sorts of attempts to get our vehicle fixed or replaced. Well, 54 days have passed, and the half-destroyed vehicle is still in our driveway. We have been spending a lot of money on Uber for our family. This company is a shame.

I let my business owner's policy lapse after finding a much better rate with a different carrier. Utica sent me several reminders, clearly stating that the policy would lapse if I didn't make a payment. Fine—that's what I wanted. But instead, they renewed it on their own and sent me a bill for a partial month's coverage until they got around to canceling it. Utica is now threatening to send the bill to a collection agency and affect my credit. In 38 years of insurance with them, I never made a claim, but their customer service representative doesn't have the authority to waive the (relatively trivial) amount involved. These are bizarre and user-unfriendly business practices.

My Jeep got smashed by their driver. I called three days ago, made a claim, and they haven't responded to me yet. I called today, and they couldn't find any information on it. My Jeep is wrecked, and they aren't doing anything about it.

I never write reviews. But here I am. BEWARE. I was in an accident and Utica fought me every step of the way. My wheel was basically falling off and they contested the fact that I needed a rental car ASAP. They didn't cover the damage they should have from the accident. They are surly and seem to take joy in squeezing every cent out of their customers.

My wife was hit by another driver totalling our SUV. The other driver had Progressive Insurance. Within 10 days, Progressive had picked up our car and valued it. Turns out the driver's insurance would not cover the cost of the car - thus Progressive had to send to our insurance, Utica. It has taken 5 weeks for Utica to value the car - with us having to harass and do most of the work. Week 1 - didn't know the location of the car. We call Progressive - instantly calls Utica and tells them (was in the original information anyway). Week 2 - we follow up - now they need permission from us to release the car from Progressive's lot. We call, lot says Progressive has to release. Again, we call Progressive - they instantly give permission to Utica. Week 3 - told delays in getting tow truck to pickup. Week 4 - finally get car to Utica - told will have value that week. Finally, week 5 - get value back. Utica values the car $4,000 less than Progressive. We are currently arguing. Stay away!

Worst insurance company ever. Me and my fiancé switched our cars and house to Utica national to get better coverage for a better price. Specifically we wanted to add water backup to our policy. Our agent said she added it. Our basement flooded and magically It’s not in our insurance. My agent has been fighting with Utica national for over a month to coverage then damage and they refuse, even when she provided all of her old policies written with then all with water and magically somehow mine didn’t have it. The owner of the agency had been in contact with them advocating for us and how this is supposed to be on our policy. We asked for 3400 to be covered for the professional cleanup we had to bring in not even all the damages. They still refused! Literally worst company worst customer service. Two cars and a house to keep us as a customer would have paid that 3,400 in a little over a year. We will never insure with them ever and we share our experience with anyone looking to switch their companies!!! You pay monthly for them to find any excuse to help you! We have a date to switch our insurance! We hate that we even have to finish our the month giving them our business!!!

This is THE WORST auto insurance that I have been with so far. They take over a month to compensate for my accident and I was always the one calling and reaching out to them to ask about what is happening with the car, if the car will be totaled or not, and how I will be compensated. What triggered me to write this poor review is that they sent a check of $24,000 to the wrong address! First, I called them to find out when the check will be mailed and waited over a week. However, I have not received anything in the mail so I called the adjuster who said that the check was sent the previous week to an address on file which was my old address. I updated this address with an agent after I moved to a new address. Now, they are telling me that I have not updated the address! This adjuster was raising his voice and trying to argue that it was my fault! I told him not to argue with me when I called an agent to change the address as soon after I moved so it is the company's fault for not confirming the address to send the check. They should have confirmed with me the address before sending a check of $24,000. How dumb are they to send a big check without confirming the correct address? They have taken my car total yet I have not received a single payment for the car value. After this horrible experience, I'm definitely changing the auto insurance to a better one who is proactive and does the job right.

This company will try to rip you off when you become injured and have to file a worker's compensation claim. Their adjusters there are extremely rude, especially Caroline Strahmaier. She will never answer your calls and will deny all your medical requests. She is mean, nasty, and cheap. She will deny the most basic necessary item from you like assisted devices, cray or MRI. She will hold back your checks at every opportunity and try to have you investigated to find every loophole as to not to pay you for your injuries. She will coherst with your attorneys to pull your medical records so she can say you had a preexisting condition and just make up lies. She will constantly try to send you to her IME doctor as a way to discourage you and stress you out. She is inhumane, rude, disrespectful, and spiteful. She should be FIRED from the company.
