I might be taking this bank to court. Right before Christmas, according to my branch manager, CBNA decided to issue contactless debit cards to 65K customers. I had no notice of this. From that moment on, all payments were declined on the old card. There were sufficient funds in my checking account for every purchase I tried to make. I was I had to wait for the physical, plastic card to make it here in 7-10 days by USPS. When it arrived I activated it and began to buy holiday gifts for my family. Amazon declined all purchases and told me to contact the card issuer. CBNA told me by online chat "Your card is current and it does not have any blocks on it. Re-enter your info for that merchant and retry." Some purchases went through - a bookshop in the UK, my local coffee shop etc - but Amazon and two institutions I wanted to make a donation to before Jan 1 said the bank declined payment, many times over. As a result of this madness, my family had no presents under the tree and I missed being able to make charitable donations that would be deductible for my 2022 taxes.
When my wife and I applied to open a checking acct, we were treated like we were trying to rip them off, and it went downhill from there. Customer service takes 2-3 days to actually do what we agreed on, their ATM machine looks to be from the 1980s, website barely works and us glitchy.
SO, I closed my acct with them 1 1/2 years ago. 6 monthis after closing the acct, I get a new ATM card in the mail for an acct that was closed 6 months ago. Called customer svc and they said to ignore it, and just throw the card away, so I cut it up and threw it away. NOW, a full year after that, I get my NEW ATM CARD in the mail !! Tried to call customer service and it informs me that, even though it is within their set hours, that no one is available to help me and I should call back tomorrow.
DO NOT OPEN!!!! I returned some pants and they said I didn't. I had a house fire so they charged me late fees for it. I disputed it and was told don't pay the late fees. 2 months later a debt collector is coming to me asking me for $400. NOT FOR A PAIR OF PANTS! I called the company was told it was a mistake and ignore them. Called back a month later and they said my dispute went through, Today I was told that my dispute didn't go through and I have to pay the debt collector. I said over my dead body. 20 different stories. Save yourself the pain.
This is my third loan. It is a great company to work with. The bank is local, so I can make payments any time in cash. When I have made a mistake, the employees are so nice to work with as life continues to happen.

Do not go through them unless you want to experience the worst customer service. They put my autopay bank account number in wrong.....didn't apologize and were super rude to me. SHADY bank.
This is the worst bank ever to have your Mortgage with. They are only about making money off you. The customer service is awful! So with most mortgage loans you have a due date, but also a 16 day grace period. If you pay extra on your principle each month they withhold your money until the following month. Therefore, they make a profit off your hard earn dollar and then still charge you interest. This bank is the the worst! Please be advised before doing business with them.
I got an auto loan through CBNA about 3-1/2 years ago. I had some trouble with the online banking at first. I blamed it on my being unfamiliar with the site. It went along fine for a while, then they added a secondary confirmation. (I had to have a code texted or phoned to me in order to enter my account). I did not like it initially but I figured the extra hoop to jump through could make my account less hackable.
The last few months have been different. My account keeps getting locked before I can login (even with the correct user name and password). Today it immediately locked on my first try. Each of the last few months I have had to call CBNA so they could unlock my account. All I wanted to do was pay my loan and they have made it increasingly hard to do so.
I asked why they kept locking my account they said it was probably because other customers might have similar user names. They said maybe I should change my user name or add some numbers at the end. If their system can't distinguish an exact name from one that is similar to it, it's a bad, bad system.
I have about 4 more payments left on this loan. I will likely just pay off the whole thing in the next day or two and not have to deal with CBNA ever again. I will never use CBNA in the future and I will not and do not recommend them to anyone.
The employees are polite and responsive and the wait times for phone calls are relatively short but this bank is really lacking in good products and online banking support. The app and website are slow and buggy and seem to lock users out for no reason whatsoever.
There are no exclusive credit cards, retirement accounts, or products worth pursuing at this bank. My husband and I looked into getting a land loan with them and it was more stringent than an A paper mortgage (I would know, I used to be a mortgage underwriter). Just to do a pre-qualification, the banker needed the last two years of tax returns, address information, and suggested 33% of a down payment and collateral. We've deposited over $100k in the last year with them. My husband and I have excellent and good credit respectively and my yearly income alone is 5xs the amount of the loan amount that we are requesting. When we followed up on our pre-qualification, the banker said that since I haven't been at my current job for a full year, that she would suggest that we wait another 18 months to reapply. What kind of bank turns away customers with credit scores of 760 and 725, DTIs of 8%, a combined annual income of $180k for a $20k loan? Not to mention that we've been consumer banking customers with them for over 3 years and have never had an overdraft or negative balances on both our checking and savings accounts.
CBNA doesn't really have anything special to offer. You're better off going elsewhere.
