This collection is for an Optimum account. I have never in my life had an account with Optimum! Somehow they got my name and placed an account in collections that I never had! I am required to jump through hoops to prove that this account is not mine!

This was an old DirecTV/AT&T account that I paid off and closed. DirecTV said I owed a prorated charge after the service was terminated. The company bought the account four years ago, and I informed them then that I do not owe anything to DirecTV. They disappeared until one week ago, dropping my credit by 12 points. DirecTV does not have any records of the account they claim. So I was stuck dealing with these people! I requested records that reflect the debt I supposedly owe them.

Under threat of legal action, I made the decision to pay off my account. They settled for less than half of the original balance, which was good. You'd think my credit score would go up afterward, but no, it dropped nearly 50 points. So if you're thinking of paying off your collections debt with them as a way to boost your credit, you might be disappointed.

I told AT&T that I returned the equipment and they still charged me. Now, when I tried to call them to make the payment, the lady who answered tried to force me to make the payment while she was on the phone. No matter how many times I said let me call back, or do it online, or over the phone like the options they provide, she insisted she needed to be on the phone for this payment and required my card information. 'Oh, it's secure, no problem, ma'am,' she said, but I told her I'd call back and do it later; all I needed was the account number. She made every excuse to have me pay with her. I hung up because why is she raising her voice? Why is she forcing me to pay something on her time? It's my credit, and if I don't pay, it doesn't affect her. Like why? Do these credit people act like we owe them personally? Y'all need to stop! You have a job just like we do, and harassing people and being rude doesn't scare people; it's just annoying.

Debt Chasers, even if you don't owe them, are intractable as well. I recommend not speaking to them about anything. Write a letter asking for original documents, and if they don't have them, have it removed from your credit file.

They were paid. I have proof that they were paid. I showed them proof that they were paid and here they are in my collections. Unbelievably, this stupid company.

This is not valid! Collectors always assume you owe it; they never check both sides before damaging your credit. The process is biased.

This is ridiculous! Twice this collection agency has put a collection on my credit report. Twice I disputed it and it was removed. Now they are back AGAIN for the THIRD time, messing up my credit with the same BS collection to the three credit bureaus. It's time they get reported!

Terrible indeed, I don't know what is going on, but this account is not accurate. Once this is closed, I need my payment back. This is terribly wrong.

Very courteous staff. The young man took the time to get my information, also spoke positive words about my situation, and thanked me for my payment.

The audacity of this company! My doctor went above and beyond to get me covered for Wegovy just in October. I went through all the awful side effects but was seeing changes in my body and how I felt already. My blood pressure was perfect. In November and December, the medication became impossible to obtain (I now believe the insurance companies paid off these pharmaceutical companies to withhold it until the new year so they could drop coverage for it). In January, I'm told my insurance no longer covers it! These people are greedy monsters who don't care about your health at all, just your money. Absolutely disgusting display of greed!

Call repeatedly even after being asked to cease and desist. They don't speak English but use anglicized names, "My name is Jeff." They also call from Arkansas numbers and can't even pronounce the state's name. After being told to cease and desist, they reply, "We will just call again later,"—nasty, hateful, lying individuals.
