This new Customer Service AI thing is terrible. I used to be able to allocate my monthly payments to the special financing through an agent using the chat option. Now, I am unable to do this, and jumping on the phone during a weekday is not feasible for someone with a workday like mine. I'm going to zero out my balance and cancel PayPal. This is horrible; we are moving backwards with service.

I have been with PayPal for over five years, using it just as PayPal, when they sent me an invite for a PayPal credit card. So, I decided to use it, but they did not explain that it was a line of credit and not a credit card, so I fell for their trick. I was granted a limit of $4,700. I made a purchase from Westmore Beauty for $84.00, and they began to bill me every month. When I reported it, they told me to handle it with the company. I expressed that it wasn't working, so I had to shut the account down and report the company for fraud. As a result, I was penalized—they shut everything down, made me prove my identity, and had me go through a five-point inspection. My credit limit was reduced from $4,700 to $140, which was nothing but an insult.
I talked to two supervisors who began to argue with me, so I argued back. I told them that after I pay them off, I will shut the account down. Then one supervisor threatened to shut my account down immediately. I insisted that they could not do that until I've paid off the balance, as I didn't want them to harm my credit.
In my opinion, they are the worst company ever, and I advise against getting involved with them. It is not a credit card, as they want you to believe—it's a credit line. No one honors it, accepts it, or takes it. I'm not even sure how Will Ferrell is doing commercials for them, considering my experience with the company. Perhaps money is a powerful motivator. While PayPal may be a good company, their credit product is not trustworthy. Please, do not deal with this company as it may harm you.

PayPal Credit was my first line of credit. I used it for years to help build my credit. Eventually, I stopped using it but kept the account open to help my credit score grow. However, they closed my account without warning for "inactivity," which damaged my credit score. If they had warned me, I would have used the account. This credit company will randomly damage your credit score; it's only a matter of time. Just don't engage with them.

I paid them off when I tried to buy something online. They process your payment as soon as you get started. They don't wait to process it at the end of the transaction when you press send. Now, when I shop online, I don't use PayPal Credit. Have you ever heard of anything like that? You pay before your transaction is completed.

I'd give 0 stars if I could. I spent about 2k as of 2017 and I was paying 120 for over 2 years. Way past the minimum due. I never had a late payment and I still owe over eleven hundred dollars. Find a better lender.

Licensed thieves take 28 days to clear funds from Chase Bank. They reserve the right to take from clients. My credit limit is $5,500. On August 11th, I transferred and paid off the account in full. Now they tell me, although they have the funds and acknowledge the payment, they will not credit my PayPal Credit account for 21 days, which means they can unjustly charge me interest.

I wanted to close the account because no matter how much I paid, it always went back up higher. I was told by one of the customer service representatives that once I canceled the card, they wouldn’t charge me any more interest, and that's not true. I have been paying on the card for a year, and the payment balance stayed the same.

I am a responsible 60-year-old with a history of excellent credit. Recently, I remodeled my home to accommodate my parents. There were many hidden issues, and we ended up seeking additional credit and loans to cover some of the construction work. I ended up getting $4,100 in credit with PayPal, and it was a big help. I paid on the account on time and more than the minimum. The first large payment that I made of $1,000, they reduced my limit to $3,400! I was livid! When I inquired about why, they claimed that TransUnion sent them an update of my credit report. That was not true because if they did, they would have increased my limit. The next payment, I paid off the entire balance, and they held my account. When I called and asked why my account was on hold, they said, "Because your payment was so high." That made no sense. I told them that the payment cleared and posted to my bank account, and I didn't understand why they would hold it when I have always paid more than the minimum and on time. They immediately removed the hold. But, the next day I received an email stating that they reduced my limit to $100. I was absolutely done with them. When I called and asked what was the basis for the reduction, they again said that TransUnion contacted them and their decision was based on my credit report. Again, that was not true. I had paid off all of my credit cards and my utilization was $0. My score on all three bureaus had risen by over 150 points! I called TransUnion just to ask, and they confirmed that they do not contact credit card companies, which I already knew. I closed my account, and it will probably ding my credit a little for closing it, but I will survive it. Do not get involved with Synchrony PayPal credit. I have multiple credit accounts with higher limits and rewards and an American Express. I do not need the aggravation of such a deficient and unethical company as this. I have never encountered such deceptive behavior, and I could see if maybe I exhibited poor credit behavior, but that's what's crazy, my credit history with them and all my accounts is excellent! They could even see that when I called, and they never had a truthful answer to any of my questions. They could not back up anything they claimed. The customer service representative, when I called about why my limit decreased so dramatically, was even confused. So, no, they are not backed or regulated by a bank, and no one should trust them. I tried to delete my account, and the app said that my account couldn't be deleted. I am so done. There has to be something illegal about this. Folks, please stay away!

Sorry, the phone system ever made to make payments over the phone. I've made my payments for months over the phone. They always have to mess with something. Oh well, my credit may drop, but I'm tired of dealing with their system. I'll keep their payment.

If I could give you a 0, I would. I have had this account for less than 6 months. PayPal has not credited my $57.36. I have mailed them two different receipts as proof that this amount was paid from my account. The very worst is the customer service agents: very disrespectful, unconcerned, and totally oblivious to being of any help to the customer. As soon as this amount is paid, PayPal can have their credit... it's not worth it. Signed, a very disgusted consumer.

The worst for hidden fees. Really, they are going to use them. Use them less. Customer service is pretty bad. Do not trust them. Sorry, I had used them.

Very poor customer service. Try Navy Federal credit card. PayPal has an extreme wait time and does not attempt to return the call once the call drops.

Avoid PayPal Credit (Synchrony Bank)! I have been a loyal PayPal customer for decades, but in February 2025, fraudulent charges appeared on my bank account from an unknown source, causing my bank to reject any outgoing payments. As a result, two PayPal payments were rejected. Once my bank resolved the issue, I made a significant payment of $1,900 on 3/13/25. However, PayPal closed my account the same night, 3/13/25. This will severely impact my credit score, as I now have an outstanding balance with a closed account.
When I spoke with customer service, they informed me that PayPal can close accounts any time they want. Keep in mind that I use four different PayPal products for personal, business, family purposes, and PayPal Hyperwallet for my Walmart sales. After this experience, I am officially closing all of my PayPal accounts and moving to a different provider (not Venmo, which is owned by PayPal).

Would give zero stars if I could. Seven days trying to get payment issues resolved, and they keep telling me it's the bank or vendor's fault. I have gone in circles three times. It is not the bank and has been blocked with multiple vendors. All you get is "wait x hours and try again/pay outside of PayPal." So far, in a week, I have waited 72 hours, 48 hours, and currently on 24 hours before they will "escalate" it to someone to fix it. Scripted, repetitive answers and restarted chats daily. 👎

I've made a few purchases online using PayPal credit. I returned four of those purchases; two of the returns went fine, but I'm still being charged for the other two. The seller (rothys.com) made the refund for those two purchases, so those should have disappeared from my PayPal credit, like the others did. But they didn't. I called PayPal, and they said they would fix these issues, confirming that they could see the refunds had been made and they would apply those refunds to my PayPal credit and the charges would disappear. So far, nothing has been fixed; the charges are still there. I don't know what else to do.
