I received a report from Credit Union West advising that even with an 817 credit score, real estate holdings, over 17 years of credit age, 100% on-time payments, and multiple loans paid off prior to their deadlines, I could not refinance my boat to reduce my interest rate and shave off three years. Their reasons are as inaccurate as I've ever seen.
It would appear this company wishes to take advantage of people in certain credit score ranges to justify higher interest rates, all the while advertising themselves online as an exceptional institution for all loan types.
I would advise anyone, regardless of credit score, to avoid this institution. If the above does not convince you, call the only number they list (regardless of the multiple locations they have) and ask to speak with the loan department or a loan officer. It would appear they don't exist.
Shame on you as a company for avoiding speaking with me while also submitting a hard inquiry on my credit.

Avoid Credit Union West. When I scheduled a payment on line at the due date, they delayed crediting my wife's account and then hit her with a late fee. They claimed normal processing time takes several days. Just closed all our accounts and switched to a reputable credit union. Called them out on it and they offered to refund the late fee but still did a hit on my wife's credit report for 2 days late even though the payment was scheduled on the due date. There is no excuse for poor customer service like that. I am spreading the word to all the forums asking for financing advise on vehicles.

I have updated my review from 1 star to 3 stars. The reason for my change of heart is because Credit Union West stepped up, reached out and resolved all of the issues my family had with them. The Credit Union West representative that reached out to me was very professional and compassionate (even with me being upset and a little bitter while on the phone). I may not agree with all of their policies, but I do need to give them credit for stepping up to make things right.

I've been a customer of Credit Union West for about 6 years and so far I've had no problems. Every time I need to cash a check or require any other services they provided me with assistance with no problems. I had an issue with a stolen card being used and it was resolved within days. Whenever I have an issue I can easily call and get help from a representative. Every representative I have spoken too has been kind and willing to help. I've had a few others from other banks/companies who had some rude representatives that I have spoken to so I am happy with the service Credit Union West has provided to me.

Credit union west is a decent bank. I rarely ever go inside the branch, but I’d do usually use the drive up window. Getting a loan is easy however if you have student loans that you have deferred all I can say is good luck. You kind of have to fight them a little on that. They feel you’re paying that loan back right this moment. Usually after a conversation with the financial manager I get it resolved and the loan gets approved. The safe deposit boxes are cheap also but good luck at getting one of those. You have to wait until somebody else leaves before you can get your box. Other than that I plan on sticking with the bank for a while.

I have been a Credit Union West member for approximately 2 years. I have an auto loan through them, which offered the best rate I could find here in Phoenix. The application process was fairly straightforward and they were good about communicating via e-mail regarding my questions. I just had to make an appointment at a branch location to get it all finalized and I was on my way.
Overall, the experience of getting the car loan and the rate was good. My only complaint would be that they don't have an online bill payment option. I'm stuck in the stone age mailing in a check. That being said, I will still look to them to finance my next car loan purchase.
