Equifax Reviews
The WalletHub rating is comprised of reviews from both WalletHub users and ratings on other reputable websites. The rating was last updated on 06/20/2026.
What's Your Rating?
- I submitted a dispute with all the documents that the dispute form says
- Dispute gets denied saying missing of invalid documents
- I call, customer service says they don't see anything missing and will open a special case and I will receive an email
- I never receive an email. A few days later I call back. Support says there's no special case. (So equifax legitimately lied and ignored an issue). The lady tells me what went wrong so I can fix it and then sends me another dispute form by email
- The lady sent me the wrong dispute form so I re-submitting the dispute myself from the beginning.
- Equifax removes 3 of the 4 accounts
- I call and the 4th account isn't their fault as a third party used an incorrect digit
- I contact the third party and get the 4th account corrected
- I submit another dispute with equifax with the exact same documents that were previously accepted for removing the 3 other accounts (this dispute is just for the 4th account with the corrected digits)
- Equifax sends me an email saying missing documents
- I call equifax. The lady sees nothing wrong and deflects the issue. She first tells me she doesn't see the account. Then later she found it. She mistakenly tells me that the account will stay there for 6 years (which is not correct as the account is mistakenly on my report currently).
- Equifax lady then sends me the wrong dispute form.
- I have submitted the exact same dispute once again and will see if they can correctly and finally remove the last account or not, one month later of going back and fourth.
- The customer support people are from overseas with english as their second language, making it hard to understand. Plus sometimes the call connection is poor
- I am applying for a mortgage and all these MISTAKES, and INCONSISTENCIES with equifax and their customer support has caused a one month delay and has caused big issues with my mortgage to the point where I will be attempting to add my story to any possible class action lawsuits
It seems you can't lodge a formal complaint about inappropriate behavior to anyone at Equifax, except to the individual involved in the behavior.
Additionally, there is a false collection report on my credit report. Despite having supporting documents that prove its inaccuracy, Equifax refuses to remove it. The same supporting documents were accepted by the other two reporting agencies, who then removed the disputed item.
I had one of the employees add a statement to my credit report over the phone. It appears as though it was written by someone with a very limited grasp of the language.
The moment I finished my sign up process, I was charged $9.95 for Equifax Complete when I did not sign up or consent to using the service. I immediately contacted customer support regarding my situation and they did not believe my words.
Their website implementation is garbage and will not hesitate to upcharge you for doing absolutely nothing wrong. Unfortunately for me, I only have 1 SSN. If I had more, I would sign up for another account while recording myself in the process so I could sue them.

What is the Equifax Credit Score range?
Traditional credit scores calculated based on data from Equifax credit reports range from 300 to 850, with higher scores indicating stronger credit. But the Equifax Credit Score ranges from 280 to 850.
The Equifax Credit Score is a proprietary scoring model used to evaluate your Equifax credit report and predict credit risk. It is calculated differently from FICO Scores or VantageScores, but pulls from the same types of data. The four main areas used to calculate the score are payment history, amounts owed, length of credit history, and new credit. Like traditional credit scores, the Equifax Credit Score can also be broken into several different ranges.
Equifax Credit Score Ranges:
- Overall: 280-850
- Poor Credit: 280-559
- Fair Credit: 560-659
- Good Credit: 660-724
- Very Good Credit: 725-759
- Excellent Credit: 760-850
Although traditional credit scores typically range from 300 to 850, some older models and industry-specific scores may start at 280, 250, or even 0. The Equifax Credit Score is just one example. Generally, the score or rating you get from one type of credit score should be close to what you receive from others, however.
