Goldenwest Credit Union

Very disappointed with Goldenwest Credit Union. I moved out of state and sent in a letter to request that my account be closed and to send me the remaining balance of my account to me in the form of a cashiers check. What happened was they did not honor my request and instead took the liberty of deducting money from my account each month for withdrawal Inactivity. Really!! Your going to take my money away for keeping it at your Credit Union. Do not use this company or trust them with your money

I have hated Goldenwest for a long time. They have screwed me over many times. I tried to get a refinance with Chase on my home mortgage when times were bad after the recession. They refused to release my end of the home equity because of a bad appraisal. I never could refinance. I am selling my place for 3 times that appraisal this spring. They refused me a credit card since I have one unfair wrong 100$ bill from Comcast I refuse to pay. Spotless credit otherwise. As soon as I sell I will pay the home equity and be rid of the Goldenwest screw over forever. Due to low income, I have been stuck staying with them. I seriously hate them so intensely bad and I can't wait to tell them where they can put their BS crap. Never finance with them. Other banks told me they are inexperienced with the loan business.

Working with Goldenwest has been a complete nightmare. They say everything and anything to get you as a customer then make it impossible to make any progress on a loan. Stay as far away from Goldenwest as you can.

I had a bankruptcy after falling on some rough times. I had joint accounts where my kids were the primary on that account, and at no time have I ever deposited money that was not my kids into those accounts. Because of my bankruptcy Colton Wes decided to take my kids money, they took from a six-year-old and a four-year-old. All because they say in a fine print policy that I agreed to this. I hope they feel great about taking money from a six-year-old and a four-year-old. Don’t bank with this credit union, My kids shouldn’t suffer because I fell on rough times! But this institution will take it out on the children! Way to go goldenwest way to go!!!

My recent golden west experience left me very disgusted with the bank in general to start off with I have had them for about 30 years actually. When I had went in there today to deposit a check because I had gotten hired on with the company I’m working under after working for a staffing agency for the last year and a half I got treated like I was nothing or a scam artist or someone trying to deposit a fake check!!! When clearly if looking at my account the weekly deposites from the staffing agency. I. Worked with a gentleman named McKay Garfield and the managers on duty was Jennifer and Amber had told him that I hadn’t been paid in like four weeks because I was waiting for the paper check I had already been late on my car payment my first car payment I had no money and they told me they had to put a hold 4 day hold on it. It being oniy 1,310.00 check, so by This time I had called my dad and he already came down and luckily the check I just had to deposit into his account and then he sent the money over to me and then the new card I got made out didn’t even get activated I had to call customer service to do that so just know that this bank even after 30 years can treat you like you’re a straight criminal when trying to access your own hard worked money. VERY disgusted with golden west.

I have been with GWCU for many years and used multiple services with them, with no issues whatsoever. I will say for the bad reviews posted here, I am guessung its a "user error" or inability to comprehend instructions or Credit Union policies. Taking the time to read and understand the services is primarily the customers responsibility prior to signing an agreement for loans, deposit accounts, credit cards etc. "Don't blame the teacher without diagnosing the student."

I have been getting loans for over 20 years. I went in to the Clinton branch to help my daughter get a loan. Our loan officer was Hannah Gould. In all these years I have never met a more friendly, helpful person that was knowledgeable and genuinely cared for our wellbeing. She was kind and very helpful. I would highly recommend her. Hannah you're the best! You will be my go to gal for now on when I need banking services. Thank You!!

I prefer CU's for obvious reasons... competitive rates and familiar service that you don't get with banks. After a marriage and move, we decided to join Goldenwest due to proximity. These folks make big banks appear to have exceptional customer service. I implore you to walk into the West Jordan (Highlands) branch and feel welcomed. Dark, quiet, unfriendly, bothered are some words i would use to describe the atmosphere. I've had three issues depositing checks (extensive holds), which doesn't necessarily bother me other than how the process works. Apparently they have a manager in back but you'll never see this individual. The teller quietly walks behind the curtain, discusses your check with the phantom manager, returns without a smile and tells you how long they'll hold. This has happened three times... exact same scenario.

To be fair, products offered are inline with other CU's and are very competitive. This review has nothing to do with that. It's a review about how deplorable the customer service is... both on the phone and in branch. In addition to the inconvenience they have shown with my presence at the Highlands branch, I've also experienced this same vibe inside their Macey's location in Sandy. If you're like me and value the relationship with your local credit union, do not choose Goldenwest...I can guarantee any other financial institution will make you feel more welcomed. One could only surmise they do not put a high priority on customer service and likely is a cultural issue.

If you prefer not to speak, smile or interact in anyway with your financial institution and can deal with the wizard's case-by-case decisions regarding your account, this may be the place for you.

Poor customer service. Each time I called I got a different customer service representative and had to re-explain the issue. The customer service representatives failed to follow through as promised. Everyone I spoke with sounded young and inexperienced and their woeful lack of skill and tact confirmed my impression they were incompetent. When after much pleading I finally got a supervisor to return my call, she was equally unhelpful and dense. Worst credit union experience ever.

I have been with the credit union for about 10 years. I applied for an equity line. I expected more being a long time customer but all I heard was the same runaround any bank would hand out. I have been paying on loans that are much more than the amount I was asking for-none of these loans asked for any documentation other than an application. I am self employed-like any other bank or Credit Union they don't seem to understand how this works. Don't waste your time as they are obviously looking for people that really don't need the money in the first place and it is obvious that being a long time customer makes no difference
