MCNA Dental

Went to three different orthodontists at the request of MCNA, who all said braces were medically necessary. Then they denied our claim for braces because MCNA said they have their own orthodontist that reviews claims, and they decided they weren't medically necessary. Sounds like a lie, but okay.

If I could give this company negative stars, I would. This company perpetuates lies. I went for an emergency dental appointment. The dentist criticized the person taking x-rays for taking too many during an emergency appointment. Feeling uncomfortable, I began recording. The woman taking the x-rays said the dentist would be right in. She glanced in my mouth for 10 seconds and said she would be back. Then she handed me a dental plan for nearly eight thousand dollars and told me that MCNA Dental doesn't cover any of it. I was required to pay at least 75% upfront and had to make another appointment.

I informed them that I have MCNA Dental. The dentist bluntly stated that they don't pay for extractions, root canals, dentures, bridges, partials, and crowns. Frustrated, I called Medicaid to report this. I then went to a dentist where my Primary Care Physician (PCP) is located. They wrote a treatment plan and sent me to an oral surgeon in Tampa. Annoyed by the fact that I had an 11 o'clock appointment and wasn't seen until almost 3, I started recording. The assistant inquired why I was there. I explained that I needed to have my teeth extracted and to consider dentures, partials, or possibly implants due to my seizures.

Again on recording, they told me MCNA doesn't pay for extractions, nor do they cover dentures, bridges, partials, or implants. It was a complete waste of time. The case manager said I needed to provide information about my seizures and things considered medically necessary. After MCNA Dental spoke with my PCP's nurse, this caseworker claimed I made everything up. However, recordings don't lie. The dentist couldn't fill the cavity because I had an infection. They refused to prescribe antibiotics or give me anything for pain, even when the pain reached my head. I had to visit the ER to get antibiotics and pain relief.

For 8 months, MCNA Dental has never once disclosed that they don't cover dentures, bridges, partials, or implants. After telling my dentist that I was hiring a lawyer for neglect, the dentist provided me with the letter. Once MCNA received the letter stating that it was medically necessary from my dentist, MCNA stated they do cover extractions but not implants. MCNA Dental wants me to have 8 teeth extracted but doesn't seem to care if I'm able to eat.

The so-called supervisor, Gardner, from MCNA Dental claims everyone chews on their back teeth. What if I don't? She refuses to put these claims in writing. She then told me that if I couldn't chew, I could drink Ensure. I have an eating disorder and Todd's paralysis. Now MCNA Dental is willing to remove the teeth and eventually agree to dentures or partials. This company is a fraud.

I have turned everything over to my lawyer because, after 9 months, this is the only time they are insisting that I get the extractions due to the infection. For 8 months, MCNA Dental didn't care. I recommend running away from this company. Social Security and this company appear to have some sort of kickbacks. I was enrolled with this company against my will from the beginning.

If I could give them a negative star I would. I've been trying, unsuccessfully, for almost 4 years to get in to see a dentist so that I can get dentures. Each time I have to wait months for an appointment and then right before the appointment they canceled me. Now I'm in a different county I saw a dentist and they denied the claim. So now I'm back to square one with no teeth. No one in Citrus County accepts mcna Medicaid dental. Not many dentists in Pinellas County accepted MCNA dental who wasn't booked for over a year. They should just go out of business. They are worthless.

They don’t even deserve 1 star. The worst insurance company under Medicaid. This is a sham. They make believe you have insurance and when you go to the dentist, they claim they can’t find him in the system, they refuse to fax or talk to dentist assistant to verify insurance and the back and forth is intolerable.

If I could leave no star I would 100% the worst provider out there and I see why most places do not network with them! The dentists they do network with are so overbooked and can not get me in for over a week for a DENTAL EMERGENCY.

They don't answer the phone! Nobody accepts this provider and I am not surprised as to why! Been in pain for months but can't get help with this insurance because NOBODY WANTS TO DEAL WITH THEM! Currently waiting for DHS to help me change to Delta Dental. Save yourself the trouble and go through anybody else but MCNA!!

They NEVER answer. Don’t use them if you have Medicaid, just use Dentaquest. I have been trying to call everyday throughout the day to get someone on line, and nothing.

I have an adult daughter with Autism. This has been the worst experience in her 35 years. We are trying to get a new dental provider because her past dentist closed his practice. Plus, he was 2 hours away. We have been trying for months to speak with a case management representative. I am placed on hold and just sit there for over an hour. The rare time someone does answer they pretend to have a bad connection and hang-up. I had a CSR try to help. Told her my daughter had to be sedated. We were on the phone for 45 minutes with a dental office. I kept asking pertinent questions because I didn't believe this practice could do sedation. Sure enough, I contact the dentist and she is not licensed to administer anesthesia. I find a dentist but I need a waiver from MCNA for out-of-network approval. I've been on hold for over an hour and someone comes on and I can barely hear him. He hangs up. Now I am on hold again for 25 minutes and counting. In the past, a case management rep was supposed to call me and I have never gotten a call.
