Very skeptical about the promises made by the agent. This company does ZERO, absolutely ZERO, legwork to collect or gather information to process your claim. If you don't mind spending the time and energy to collect the medical records, proper "coding" - literally, it is entirely up to you to gather and provide info to the insurance company. Can't emphasize that enough! Once they received the second mailing of documents from me, they settled within 2-3 weeks, and then a follow-up settlement occurred within the following week or so. AGAIN, IT IS UP TO YOU TO GATHER INFORMATION.

Flat out finding ways to not want to pay out, always being reviewed, being processed, all talk no action. I honestly would not insure even a pet with these money-grubbers. Three months after my dad's death, I'm still waiting on a check. Always get some fool that says call back in three days; it should be made out this week. Zero stars, zero satisfaction. Minus one star.

What do I have to do to help my 97-year-old mother collect on her long-term care insurance policy? They are doing everything in their power to outwit and bully my mother into not collecting her 6 hours per day of at-home care after paying her premiums for more than 30 years.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was told that I would receive up to 9,000 for having cancer and also that I would get money for having surgery. That didn't happen; they denied my claim. I was asked to submit an itemized bill from my surgery, and they still denied it, saying it was not covered by the cancer insurance. I had a lumpectomy done, and I have to do 33 rounds of radiation. When I spoke to my agent, he said that I would receive a large lump sum of money. I was relieved that I would be getting help because I have to take time off work. I'm a school bus driver, and this money would have helped me out a lot. I'm so frustrated with going through all of this with filing a claim; this has been going on since late June. I will soon have to cancel my policy because I will no longer be able to afford the payment.

I have a cancer policy that was issued in 1998 by Conseco, which was acquired by Washington National. Washington National is part of Bankers Life. I was denied the daily benefit for cancer treatment at a medical facility when I began receiving Keytruda immunotherapy treatments every three weeks in April 2024, along with daily Lenvima targeted therapy pills, which is the FDA-approved second-line treatment for endometrial cancer that progresses during or after first-line chemo treatment. I also have the more aggressive and chemo-resistant clear cell variant that spread to my lung from my endometrium via my bloodstream before and again after chemo treatments. Keytruda and Lenvima work with your immune system to seek out and destroy cancer cells and prevent them from replicating and spreading. The policy states that it will pay a benefit for each day I receive a chemical treatment or radiation treatment at a medical facility for the purpose of killing cancer cells. In 1998, there was no such thing as immunotherapy. They have denied that benefit to me, stating that it is not covered because it does not kill cancer cells, which is not true. I appealed the original denial and sent the insurance company a ton of information and records, including CT scan results showing I am now NED and there were no cancer cells present in my bloodstream on my Signatera blood test results, which chemotherapy failed to do. They denied my appeal. So I filed a complaint with the Nebraska Department of Insurance and contacted a local news station's investigative reporter.

The worst company I've ever had the dissatisfaction of dealing with. I rarely have to file claims, and the one time I did, I had to go through so much just to speak with a live representative. She answered the phone sounding like I was bothering her, as I had questions on how to file because I was never able to log into the portal. They sent me a 15-page form to fill out, which was beyond ridiculous. They wanted a signature from the physician as if I were right in front of the doctor. I'm sorry, but if my child goes unconscious from having a seizure and concussion, filing a claim and getting signatures is the LAST thing on my mind as she gets admitted into the hospital to see a neurologist. Yeah, I just canceled the policy and went back to AFLAC. Someone who I can trust. AFLAC never let me down, and they were always quick with payments. No hassle and no 15 pages of unnecessary paperwork. This company was a total waste of money. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY/TIME OR PUT YOUR TRUST IN THESE SCAMMERS.

This insurance is the worst. They don't like paying out any money. I went through so much with filing a claim with this company. Even though I had never filed a claim before, they still didn't want to pay me.

BEWARE of this company and their less than honest practices. I was given misleading information when I signed up and now, after having it for years and never using it, they refuse to stop payroll deductions for premiums after I canceled it and won’t refund premiums they continue to take from me. Representative just said “Sorry. We don’t do that. Contact your payroll department to stop deductions and see if they will refund your money”. Unscrupulous company. Do not use them.

This company gets absolutely NO STARS from me, but to submit my claim, I have to put at least one star. I have turned in two broken legs for my husband, and the second one was caused by the hospital in the first surgery of the first broken leg, and they had the nerve to say that the first broken leg was caused by a previous illness and the second broken leg was a continuation from the first broken leg, which, the second broken leg was caused by the hospital putting dirty metal in his leg, hence, a 3 week payout from the hospital stay. These guys are rediculous.
I just submitted an accident from work that caused me to have surgery on my shoulder, and they related that injury to a 2012 torn labrum, that has been perfectly fine since my recovery in 2012. I have had no issues from that shoulder until I lifted a heavy package at work, USPS, and they denied payment for my accidental coverage.
I also submitted my husbands death certificate last year, proving that he is gone, and they are still taking out for "family" bi weekly payments. You guys are a disgrace to human mankind for treating your clients like they make this up. I had all of the Dr's bills and therapy bills and they still denied payment.
DO NOT purchase from these people if you want proper and legit coverage. You are better off going with AFLAC.

My husband purchased a health insurance policy. The rep that came and spoke to him, Melanie, and she mislead him on several things. She has no idea how having VA benefits work. She also said that she would contact him when open enrollment started and she never contacted him. Trying to get a straight answer from this company is impossible. If the reps don't know an answer then they should say so and not lie. The manner that this company treats seniors is terrible. Karma will get all of them one day.

my mother has a long term health policy she bought many years ago. The language and restrictions as how to use it are very narrow. Each time we try to use it for services, we are told she is not eligible. She has thousands of dollars she has put into it, but now I am told she will never get any. benefit out of it, without some very specific conditions, which is not practical for her. DON'T BUY THE POLICIES, UNLESS YOU ARE SURE YOU CAN USE IT. They don't tell you if they will pay, until you actually file a claim.

Beware of the fact that this company continues to bill for a policy that they claim was cancelled 27 years ago. I spent well over 1 hour on the phone with customer service reps who insist that I send cancelled checks and copies of the bills for the last 27 years to prove that the money has been paid. The policy is listed as an accident policy but that means nothing to them. Reps I spoke to were at 800 525-7662. I called again the same day to confirm the address to send the information to and was told now that the policy was a Banker's Life policy that no longer exists. I got the above phone number from the website when I set up an online account. The site said the account couldn't be accessed. I called a different number for this company and, oddly enough, that rep said the account does exist. Both phone numbers claim to be for Washington National Insurance Company. I did not sit at home and create a 'Notice of Premium Due" bill. It came from somewhere but Washington National Insurance Company at ((800)525-7662 has no knowledge of any such bill and says I must provide copies of the bills and cancelled checks to an address in Carmel, IN in order for this to be investigated. I am told that this is a "back office" which cannot be reached by phone. Do they mean "back woods office"? I had to provide a rating but zero stars is more accurate.

I’m not sure what others are complaining about. If you carefully read the cancer policy, it clearly states what is and is not covered. It is not meant to replace health insurance, but supplement it. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2023 and after calling Washington National, was told how to submit proof of diagnosis signed by my doctor. I quickly received a substantial check. Since then I have turned in itemized, coded bills obtained from doctors, for chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and have been pleased with the quick payments of the amounts specified in my policy. This policy has covered our health insurance large deductible and out of pocket, and then some. So glad we have it.

This sounds like a fake review. This company is impossible to deal with. I sent in 67 pages of pathology reports and chemo treatments and they denied the claim. That are a despicable company and should be shut down and sued.

DO NOT INVEST YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS ‘INSURANCE’!! Had to travel 90 miles for 30 daily radiation treatments along with chemotherapy (2 rounds). It was too hard on my 79 year old mother to drive that distance daily. We stayed at a wonderful place in Winston Salem, NC called the SECU House for treatments at Wake Forest Baptist Atrium Health, because home was 90+miles away. They refuse to pay mileage and accommodations because we lived less than 100 miles away.. I saved all my receipts as I paid copay’s & bills all along. All from the hospital. Refuse to pay bc they weren’t itemized. I will resubmit these claims. I will also blast this company for misrepresenting their product and claims of taking care of you at your lowest time. Shame on you…Karma is coming for you all!!! Washington National Insurance and all its customer careLESS affiliates SUCK!!
