American Risk Insurance Company

This company needs a class action lawsuit brought against them. For fraudulent policy cancellation & reinstatement. Also refusal to pay full amount for legitimate insurance claims & coverage. We didn't want to be reinstated by them. This company is absolutely horrible and should be put out of everyone's misery.

American Risk issued a quote for home insurance, which I accepted. I made a rather large down payment and was told the cost would be $249 per month for 9 months. This sounded good. They sent out an inspector to take photos within the month, unbeknownst to us. Later, they sent a cancellation letter explaining why they were cancelling our policy, which included photos. The letter stated the policy was not eligible for reinstatement. However, the problem was, the house in the photos was not my house. They then stated that the carrier had not registered the age of our home, and that was the reason for cancellation, despite this information being provided during the first phone call to the agency, TGH, located in Willis, TX.

A few days later, we received the cancellation letter by mail. The following day, a representative with American Risk showed up to take photos of my house, which he did. I called the agent to inquire why someone was sent to take photos when our policy had been cancelled. She was unsure but promised to find out. The agent called back the next day, explaining that the insurer was waiving the "house too old" reason and was awaiting a response regarding reinstatement. However, she said that American Risk denied sending someone out for a second inspection and were unaware of who came out and took the photos. Interestingly, the second individual drove a car with American Risk Insurance decals on the doors and told my husband that he had been the one who took the photos of the wrong house initially.

We are still waiting for a resolution. A third representative visited yesterday (12/2), stating that the first person did not do a proper job, which is why they sent him. As of now, we still lack concrete information, and the insurance company continues to withdraw funds from our account for monthly payments. This third representative took photos of the chairs on my porches, the property behind our house, which we do not own, our dogs, and everything else. It is worth noting that we are only insuring our home, not the property, outdoor furniture, or our dogs. Overall, it has been a fiasco. There appears to be dishonesty, the numbers are skewed, and there seems to be a lack of accountability for an initial misquote. People—and that includes unscrupulous insurance companies—reap what they sow.

Stay far away unless you prefer to never get a response, to never have your call answered, or are simply excited to experience terrible communication and customer service. If you enjoy that type of treatment, then this company is for you.

Well, I would have had insurance with this company, but no one sent me a bill until five days after the policy I had expired. There was no follow-up from the insurance agent or ARI. I switched to a more reputable insurance company that actually values its customers. I am just happy I didn't have a claim while I was insured with them. I have heard they are horrible at paying claims. Move on to a good company. These folks are not customer-oriented.

I'm very disappointed with my experience with American Risk Insurance. My claim started on July 8, 2024, and Mehdi Parvin is the claim examiner handling it. Unfortunately, he does not return my emails or phone calls, making this whole process extremely frustrating and stressful.
I have even gone to their physical office in person, hoping to get answers — but I still couldn't get the information or help I needed to move my claim forward.
This level of poor communication and lack of follow-through is unacceptable for any insurance company, especially when people rely on you during difficult times. I do not recommend American Risk Insurance based on my experience so far.

Ongoing Nightmare – Still Waiting on Full Roof Payment

Our experience with American Risk Insurance has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. What should have been a straightforward claim for roof damage has turned into a drawn-out battle filled with poor communication, broken promises, and unnecessary stress.

From the start, we've struggled to get timely or honest updates. Our claims adjuster, Josh Mathers, has been nearly impossible to reach and consistently unresponsive. We've had to follow up repeatedly just to get basic information, and when we did hear back, the answers were vague or misleading.

Despite meeting all their requests and providing all necessary documentation, our claim still hasn't been paid in full, and there is a remaining balance owed to our roofing company. This delay has put a financial burden on us and has made an already stressful situation much worse.

It's incredibly frustrating to pay into a policy, only to be left feeling ignored and misled when you need help the most. American Risk Insurance has shown a clear lack of professionalism, urgency, and accountability.

The worst insurance company I have ever dealt with is in my area in Texas. We had hail damage, and the America Risk insurance adjuster does not want to pay to get my home fixed. In particular, Chad Pleasant is not customer service friendly. Ironically, his name is Pleasant. He lowballs clients and will not repair my roof, despite the incessant rainy weather in Texas, leaving me to wait for months. America Risk Insurance goes back and forth with my contractor, thereby delaying the job. I give them a rating of negative four out of ten.

Horrible service. I did not choose this insurance; it was given to me by my mortgage when I bought the house last year. My claim will be 1 year old on 4/20/2025 and was approved for a lot less than what is needed to fix my house. My next step is to sue them with a class-action lawsuit. I am deeply disappointed with ARI Insurance Company. The coverage they claim to provide is deceptive and unreliable. When I needed the assistance they advertised, I was completely abandoned. It's upsetting that I had to personally experience this to uncover the numerous negative reviews left by other customers. Their poor rating on the BBB (Better Business Bureau) speaks volumes about the lack of integrity and support this company offers. I would strongly advise others to thoroughly research and consider other options before trusting ARI Insurance with your needs.

Please don't ever purchase insurance from this company. I had a house fire on June 15, 2024. The adjuster sent a check that wouldn't even begin to cover my contents and an insufficient amount for my dwelling. I hired a Public Adjuster which Mr. Simmons refused to negotiate with, and he invoked the Appraisal Clause. American Risk's independent appraiser is now delaying the claim. This is a total nightmare, and I am quickly finding that there's not much I can do. I have lost 35 years of belongings, and I have been out of my home for nearly 8 months with no end in sight. Do not use this company!

I have had such a horrible time with this company. They did not pay to have the leaks in my kitchen or garage fixed, which were caused by roof and flashing damage. Also, when you call or email, they will not answer or respond back. Sometimes when you call customer service, they will hang up on you. I filed my first complaint with the TDI regarding the leaks in my kitchen and garage, and they said that the insurance company denied them, claiming they had been there previously to us making a claim, which was not true. I let that go, but upon completing my whole roof claim, including my $13,000 deductible, they still will not pay my recoverable depreciation. I have all the documentation stating they owe me over $10,000 for all my recoverable depreciation, but they refuse to talk or to send the check. So, I have filed another complaint with the TDI, and if they won't release the check, I guess I will have to get a lawyer. Please do not sign up with them because they definitely have lower rates, but this is why. It is a very disappointing and frustrating company. They have very poor customer service, and Mr. Jeff with the extension 727 never answers or calls back. I have been reaching out at least 20 times, and up to this point, he's still not addressing my concerns. I have an open claim and the work is done, but there's no response regarding the completion.

I have been trying to get some type of update from them for about four weeks for a claim I filed. The representatives who answer the phone always state that it's still under review. It's obvious damage as the roofing company I hired has proof, and there is a leak in my kitchen. I tried calling my adjuster, agent, and the supervisor, Larry, with no response. I feel wronged because I pay my insurance faithfully.

Worst company ever. Don't ever make the mistake of signing up with them. They won't pay for anything and make all sorts of excuses to not pay. They won't pay or cover foundation roofing or anything, and all they do is take money. You'll be making a huge mistake if you get with this company! They don't deserve any stars and should be shut down.
