Upon discovering the fraudulent activity, I promptly filed a dispute with my bank. After a lengthy process, they were unfortunately only able to provide me with one provisional credit of $1,000. The bulk of the funds, which amounted to $19,000, remain missing. I submitted my dispute back in February, and since then, the situation has only grown more convoluted. My bank continuously requested that I appeal their decisions each time my dispute was denied, leading to a cycle of frustration and disappointment.
Despite spending five months trying to resolve this matter, I have seen no significant progress in the investigation. When I reached out to check on the status, I was told that the case was resolved, which was not the case at all. It feels utterly disheartening to be left in the dark like this. Many others are apparently facing similar issues with them as well. It is a disservice to customers, and there is a strong case for holding this company accountable, possibly even through legal action.
Can you use it on PayPal or Venmo? No. Varo? No. Can you use it on Cash App? Only until their flawed algorithm detects that you're actually using a peer-to-peer financial system, which, thankfully, is a decent amount of time because their technology is so lackluster.
One would assume that a fair share of people who end up on unemployment (often after months of waiting to get paid) probably owe at least some amount of money to someone close to them for the period between losing a job and unemployment benefits kicking in. So who does the government choose as the financial partner for all their unemployment needs? The worst financial services company possible that is compatible with pretty much nothing outside of its own digital services.
"Oh, you owe your best friend $900 that they fronted you while you were waiting for your first payment from us? Well, good luck finding a Money Network bank to make that withdrawal, good luck finding an MN ATM, and good luck using peer-to-peer money transfers! Also, we restrict where you can spend your unemployment funds... but we have really long wait times for everything, including your transfers between this account and the one you actually wanted to use in the first place... but you can cash checks at Walmart for free!
Update: I finally received my Money Network check this week. I had submitted a complaint through the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website regarding the issue of not receiving my mailed checks. This helped escalate the matter and ultimately led to the resolution of my issue.

Why can't I cash a check from Money Network?
You might not be able to cash a Money Network check due to insufficient funds, incorrect check details, problems with the issuer's account, or the check getting damaged or voided. Money Network checks are not traditional bank checks, and they function more like pre‑authorized withdrawals from a prepaid or payroll card account.
Most Common Reasons You Can't Cash a Money Network Check
- The check wasn't successfully verified: Money Network requires the check to be verified by phone or online before a bank or check casher will honor it. If verification fails, the check is automatically declined.
- Insufficient balance: Even if the check looks legitimate, Money Network checks draw from a prepaid balance. If the balance is too low at the moment of verification, the system returns “insufficient funds,” and the bank won't cash it.
- The bank you visited doesn't process Money Network checks: Some banks simply don't support Money Network's verification system. If they can't verify it electronically, they won't cash it, even if the check is good.
- The check is stale‑dated or improperly filled out: Banks reject Money Network checks if the date is too old, the handwriting is unclear, the payee name doesn't match your ID, or there are alterations or corrections.

How long does it take for a direct deposit to post in my Money Network card?
Direct deposits to your Money Network card typically post within 1 to 3 business days from the time the payer initiates the transfer until the funds are available on the card.
However, exact timing may vary depending on the payer and factors such as weekends, holidays, or whether the payer supports early access. For the most up-to-date information, visit Money Network's website or contact support at (800) 542-9332.
