This bank began making ACH payments out of my account without prior permission while I was making monthly payments by check. I was unable to get someone on the phone who had a clue as to what was going on.

Since Old Second bought WSB, things have been rocky, as expected. A few years later, I'm moving my accounts to competitive banks. The simple fact is banks use our money to loan to others at a higher interest rate. I understand banks have to charge more than they pay, but I have to trust that the bank and its employees are telling me the truth. I opened a 6-month CD with $10,000 to be deposited into my checking account at term end for an upcoming car purchase. The banker claimed to have already checked the auto rollover, and when I asked to rewrite it to transfer at 6 months, I was assured I'd be notified with plenty of time and, in the worst case, I'd get whatever the interest was. The bold print says 5.09% fixed; the fine print that was highlighted for me today was 0.05%! Okay, I couldn't believe this place would just mislead customers for short-term gains, but I'm moving my modest accounts to another service provider. I really miss WSB. Old Second Bank that bought WSB cannot be recommended. I don't know if OSNB has an affiliation.

Do not use Old Second under any circumstances. They have arbitrary policies and refuse to follow Federal Reserve guidance. They refuse to work with you and their Customer Service people have little, if any, knowledge of banking regulations.

June 20th, I called to get something reasonable solved on my account. The first representative said she couldn't help me. She sent me to the main branch, but no one picked up. I called a second time and God sent an angel named Hashmin. I explained my situation and right away, she solved my problem. If I could, I would give her 10+ stars. Thank you once again, Hashmin, for being an excellent representative.

Dorothea is phenomenal! She has excellent customer service. She was patient and answered all my questions. She helped me set up the app on my phone so I could go paperless. I highly recommend you ask for Dorothea at the Downers Grove-Finley Branch.

This review is for the Glendale Heights location. Old 2nd is more concerned about their bottom line vs. doing the right thing for the customer. After 23 year of banking with Old 2nd, they were quick to get rid of me vs. making it right. Here is the situation: On Monday, September 18, 2023, I received a phising text and immediately knew it was fake because the extension of old 2nd was .cc vs .com. I went to delete the text however; my finger hit the link. As it was attempting to connect, i backed out before it could connect. Later in the day I received an email from Old 2nd informing me about the phising text and it stated if you clicked the link call the number listed. Long story short, they locked down my chekcing and savings accounts and disabled the app. I was informed to go to the bank to get new account numbers and I would have to get my phone cleaned. I spoke with Krutin Patel about the situation and we proceeded to start the process. I asked about compensation for checks and the phone cleaning, Kruting had to get his manager, Sergio Gonzalez. I was informed that they would give me a book of checks, great, however, what about the other 10 books i have to replace? For the phone cleaning, the bank would not cover the cost; $150 (diagnosis fee) this does not include if there was a virus found; that would be extra. He told me that it was my responsibility. I informed him that it was the bank's responsibility to protect my data however that didn't happen. It ended with me saying that i would close my account. Within a Nano second, Sergio told Krutin to close my account. This behavior is the example that ties into my 1st sentence; Old 2nd more concerned about their bottom line vs. doing the right thing for the customer

I recently went to Old Second Bank in Bloomingdale, IL for banking assistance. The staff at this location (Denver, April, and Maria) were very kind and helpful. Thank you!

Old Second Bank is not the same as West Suburban. They are no longer customer-focused and do not care about their customers. A customer for 30 years and saying goodbye. Transition/integration was handled horribly as well but looked past that. It did not get better. Good luck and hello Chase.

Take your money and run.... I like to use and support small local banks (e.g. West Suburban), but this isn't it anymore. They will only contact you with account issues via mail (yes, MAIL through the Post Office), and will have no qualms turning your debt over to collections without a sincere attempt to contact you via phone or email.

Been with WSB for almost 30 year, and while things didn't always go smoothly it at least wasn't the cluster that has happened since OSB took over. Everything has gone wrong, from my account getting locked out, to my bills not getting paid, making me incur late fees, My debit card randomly not working even with no fraud and money in the account, them calling my minor daughter about her minor savings account directly instead of through me. And their customer service number are a bunch of clowns, no idea what they are doing or talking about. This has been a horrible transition. I like the people in our WSB branch near-by and they are still there, trying to make it easier, but this was not handled well.

This is the worst transition I have seen ! Since acquiring West Suburban we have been locked out of our account 2 times . When we went into the bank to regain access we were told this is happening a lot, it has been almost a month and you still haven’t fixed the problem

After enjoying great service from West Suburban Bank (WSB) for 45 years, I was forced to deal with Old Second Bank (O2) - who apparently took over WSB starting on April 25. Since that date, my spouse and I have experienced numerous problems in our attempts to perform normal bank activities. O2 has really "fumbled the pass" on the pass from WSB to O2. So, we are sorry to say goodbye to WSB and happy to say goodbye to Old Second Bank.

Recently became a customer because West Suburban Bank was taken over. Can’t get through on the telephone, can’t get answers on their website. The lobby is always crowded with people trying to get their problems solved. I have never experienced such a total lack of customer service. I would never be a willing customer. (Apparently Old Second National only publishes the good reviews.)

I've been with Old Second Bank for a number of years now, ever since I moved out to the Chicagoland area. They have always been courteous and treated me well, they have numerous locations all around where I live and they have always been fair and conscious of when deposits were made against when my bills came out. There was a time that I moved to Florida for a year and a half and opened a secondary account with a competitor, while the competitor was much larger, they were entirely more cut-throat and did not even contact me when I was double charged for the same product, when I moved home, I closed down the account with the competitor immediately and put my funds back into my Old Second account. I would honestly recommend Old Second to anyone who is in the West Suburbs of Chicago, and I intend to stay with them for my duration.
I came back to Old Second when I moved back to my home town four years ago. Old Second is a great Bank for many reasons. It is a locally owned, independent bank which is rare these days. It invests in the community by providing loans to local businesses and residents as well as by charitable contributions. Old Second provides a wide range of services to their customers including the newest innovations like online banking. Nor have they overemphasized technology. You can always reach a person at Old Second and that person will be helpful and courteous. Finally, Old Second has branches and ATMs throughout the Fox Valley area. If you are within fifty miles of home, you can always find an Old Second branch office or ATM nearby. Old Second provides most of the benefits of a big bank without the hassles, runaround or moral quandaries of actually using one.
