I got behind on my payments. I have direct deposit and they have shut me down. They sent me a new card but what good is it if i dont have an account and cannot access it? I cannot access my account to see if i have cash coming in, i cannot log in, websites cannot verify its even me! I asked them how did they expect to get their money if i couldnt get to mine. It really sucks they have this much control over my income. I am switching banks for sure. They are unfair and are crooks. I used to be happy with them but after this, no! Do not open an account with them! They will stick it in and break it off! They are lazy as well. I got a payday advance and did it all online seeing i couldnt make it to the bank before closing. The man that took care of it, finally, wanted me to come sign a paper after i esigned documents online. Whats the point of esigning if i had to show up in person? I didnt have a chance to. The man i corresponded with before was rude and very quick to dismiss and did not see through to help me. I cannot give them any money if i cannot see what i have. I am withdrawing all cash and closing my accounts! Very unhappy with this experience!
I was charged an nsf funds after being told I wouldn’t be charge that and I was even though no money came out of my account and the precedes to talk to me like I was stupid bc I wanted my account closed out and told them I would tell people about it.
I’ve been banking with State Employees Credit Union on Silas Creek Parkway Winston Salem for quite a few years and have had no real issues till today. I for once was the only person in the drive through and was making a cash deposit. The ladies working the window decided that their conversation was more important that getting the transaction completed and the customer on the way. I waited a minimum 7-8 minutes for these women to finish their conversation before sending my receipt out. I was literally sitting there watching them as they talked. A couple of them even looked back at me while I looked at my watch and went back to their conversation like I didn’t matter. Someone needs to let these ladies know that customer satisfaction is key and should always come first.
I selected checking but this is an overall review. SECU on 401 South in Raleigh is wonderful. It's a newly opened branch (2 years). From day 1 they've been kind, courteous and efficient. 2021 - present, I've never been in a bank so much in my life. Now I automatically ask for Dorinda. She is quiet, unassuming, but VERY helpful and patient. I've read some reviews and I've experienced some of the things I read in other reviews, but I promise this branch is different. Recently I went through the ATM lane and as I pulled off the window person looked up, smiled and waved! I've done loans, account closings, estate business etc and for the most part everyone at all contact points have been great. I use online, email, website, atm, app and even phone service, if I hit a hiccup, someone usually resolves it quickly. I've received grace on more than one occasion. I would not bank anywhere else, except MSD credit union has the lowest car loan rate in the country...1.9%. If you work for the company do yourself a favor and join. Since they're not in NC, they can't do mortgages, but they do everything else. But for these purposes, SECU is great!
Worst customer service ever. Many decades of having an account and they still act like they are doing you a favor to wait on you. If one of them smiled it might crack their face. Go to a bank where they treat you like a customer, not a burden.
John & Alex at the Silas Creek Branch in Winston-Salem. Very knowledgeable and happy to assist in anyway. Service has been prompt. The service they deliver is top of the line.
Worst credit union ever. Don't get a mortgage from them unless you are willing to wait months! They treat their long time customers as if having their business doesn't matter.Don't waste your time with them.
I've been a member since 2014-- and was a member in the past-- and have found NC's SECU to be the best financial institution I've ever dealt with in the US.
In particular, staff at my branch in Grantsboro, NC, have been courteous, helpful, efficient and invested in me getting the best possible service.
Read this before you pay this bank for an appraisal! Just paid almost $500 for an appraisal to receive a home equity line of credit. In May of 2021, in one of the best real estate markets in decades, their appraisal was less in value by $27,000 (on a house between $200 & $300k) than one I had done last August. The appraiser was clearly not familiar with the area - the comps were not both from the same town, and one closed in 9/2020. I've at this point spent hours, sending them data on closed properties from Zillow, sending them data on house listings in the same town, and on my same street, but they aren't budging, nor have they refunded my appraisal fee. They still cannot explain the loss in value in one of the best real estate markets in history. This bank has friendly employees, but they are not modern with their practices. I would advise anyone looking to shop around for a mortgage or home equity line or any other loan before giving this bank your business.
You can reopen a salary advance loan before time at State Employees' Credit Union. The operation is called a real time loan advance, and it means you may request an advance up to the amount of your credit limit through online banking, mobile banking, or by phone.
