State Employees' Credit Union Reviews
What's Your Rating?
I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent experience and to notify you of my decision to terminate my banking relationship with your institution.
As a lifelong member, I have trusted your institution to safeguard my finances and to provide fair and professional service. Unfortunately, my recent experience has caused significant financial harm and has eroded my confidence in your organization.
My credit was pulled in connection with a loan application, and I was approved. I received a pre-approval letter confirming this status. Afterward, I requested to work with a different agent for handling my transaction. Despite this request, the original agent canceled my application. This action directly resulted in a $3,000 loss in due diligence funds and a 30-point decrease in my credit score—from 780 to 750.
This outcome is both financially damaging and deeply disappointing. I expected professionalism, accountability, and respect—particularly as a long-standing member. Instead, I was left to absorb a significant financial loss and credit impact due to circumstances beyond my control.
Given these events, I no longer feel confident conducting business with your institution. I will be closing my accounts and transitioning to a financial institution that demonstrates consistent fairness, transparency, and respect toward its members.
I respectfully request a formal review of this matter and a written response addressing the circumstances surrounding the cancellation of my approved application.
Update: Bank customer service says they had the right based on the loan documents I signed. Well, the account wasn't in my name. I was an authorized user on my mother's checking account. My mother didn't even have a state employees checking account or do any business with SECU until after i had my loan. Now she's responsible for my debt? She's not my wife. She's not on MY checking account. I think theft has occurred here and I'm not being silent.
