Caution to anyone choosing to use Steadily Insurance. I worked with one of their representatives to put insurance in place at my rental property located in Orange Beach, AL. The initial quote came in at $11,533, which I verified the details of with my assigned agent and asked what I needed to do to initiate the process. He sent me the finance option, which included my down payment of $2999.53, to which I agreed and then asked when I should cancel my current policy. Based on all the information I was given by phone and email, I set my policy to cancel on 5/08/24 and approved the down payment charge on my card on 5/05/24. On the morning of 5/08, I received an email verification to which I replied, confirming everything was correct. At 1:35 PM, I emailed requesting proof that my insurance was in place. At 5:35 PM, he replied that everything was good and should be finalized by that afternoon or the latest by Friday morning.
Early the next morning, I received an email stating the company would not honor my policy but they had another one that they could place me with immediately, but at a rate of $14,374. I then emailed and called the representative to express my concern that this appeared to be a bait and switch tactic and mentioned that if needed, I would get my attorney involved. He replied that he was working with his management to resolve this issue, which he agreed was poor business practice.
I called that afternoon to check on my policy before going into the weekend, especially since I had renters checking in. I got no reply through the weekend, so I found another company on Saturday that quoted me $11,755.00 and was able to put my insurance in place within one hour.
I emailed my Steadily representative immediately and requested that my $2999.53 be reimbursed. I got no reply, so I emailed again on Monday morning, where I got a reply instructing me to contact Steadily directly. After contacting the billing department, they said that my complaint had been sent to management. I asked where my money was, and he said it was tied up with a third party and might take at least 60 days to get my money returned. I have called the representative and emailed with no further communication.
I would be very cautious of engaging with Steadily, especially during the initial quoting and payment process.
