Founded in 1904, Stock Yards Bank has evolved from a small bank serving the Louisville livestock industry to a nationally recognized bank known for exceptional service and financial performance. Their capabilities align well with those of national banks, but their focus has always been building a strong relationship with their customers.

Buyer Beware! These are not 'stand-up' folks. I deposited nearly $7,000 in my account and received a receipt for the deposit. The deposit was never reflected in my account. The bank thinks that there was a 'machine error' which caused the problem. Regardless, they are unwilling to 'fix' the problem in terms of reimbursing me for the lost money. They regard it as 'my problem.' I have two bank accounts with them, which I am in the process of terminating, and a trust, which is being moved elsewhere. During the Civil War, someone asked whether he trusted a particular politician. He replied, 'I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw a pot-bellied stove.' When the politician demanded a retraction, the person replied, 'Okay, I do trust him—as far as I can throw a pot-bellied stove.' That sums up my feelings about Stockyards Bank. Buyer Beware!

My former bank was taken over by Stockyard, and it's been an utter nightmare ever since. Their fraud detection is extremely sensitive and their funds only transfer during business hours, so if you're graveyard shift then you're SOL. They're also harder to contact when you need to. Garbage customer service, garbage app, garbage hours. I hate change but changing banks is the only way with how bad it is.
I also notice other people with the bank's cards getting false errors at my register pinpad at work more often than others. Make of that what you will.

If you are a real estate Investor you must avoid this bank at all costs. I recently (November 2021) closed a large portfolio loan with them, and it was a nightmare to say the least. The terms changed 4 times through the process! Since closing I have had an offer sell some of the assets in this package, but Stock Yard will not release any of the assets in this loan individually. I have relationships with many local banks and what is happening now is unheard of and disgusting. I have offered to pay the prepayment penalty’s just to get out away from Stock Yard and they will not get back to me. At this point I have brought in an attorney to help solve this problem. This bank claims it wants to get into the Real Estate Investor space but has zero idea how to do so ethically and morally. If this bank truly cared about its customers, they would have met me to talk in person to come up with a solution that worked for everyone, instead they hid behind their lawyers and their paperwork which was misrepresent by Jamie Weaver (Please avoid him, he’s a used car salesman selling loans now). Please message if you would like more detail about my situation.

It takes a lot to really upset me in regard to customer service and business interactions, but this bank managed to accomplish that. I have never experienced such consistently incompetent and unprofessional customer service as I have since Stockyard Banks & Trust took over Kentucky Bank. In the process, they mixed up people's addresses, sent debit cards to the wrong locations (to this day I haven't been able to get a debit card), and their process for obtaining historical banking records is a joke at best and fraudulent at worst. After six weeks of attempting to obtain historical banking records from my accounts (the process of which is taken care of by their "research" department in Louisville which has no customer facing contact information), I was debited $1,502.06 from my checking account without any contact from the bank to let me know of the charge or the amount. It took me three in person visits to the branch, and innumerable voicemails left (to which not one single person ever called me back), to get this process completed. When I returned to the branch to pick up my hard copy records that I then had to spend two-hours scanning myself, since it's 2021 and no one utilizes hard copies anymore, I attempted to express my dissatisfaction regarding this experience, I received incredibly unprofessional commentary from a teller with whom I'd never had any interactions with before, at which time she claimed the process only took two weeks (incorrect, it took six weeks with no communication), and that I had signed off on the charge via email. When I asked her to produce this email communication because it certainly didn't come from me, of course the teller was unable to do so. This was all combined with excuses, justifications, and absolutely zero ownership or acknowledgement regarding the difficulty of the process to obtain this necessary information, or why I had to pay $1500 to access my own banking history. I will be closing my accounts with this bank ASAP, and would never ever recommend that anyone do business with this dinosaur institution that employs such unprofessional and clearly untrained individuals.

Angela Pitera was incredibly unprofessional and condescending from the first moment of contact regarding refinancing. Snide comments about the size of the property, questions that called my intelligence and ability to understand the process into doubt, and acting like documentation I gave her was useless when other lenders accepted them without issue.
After I told her we were no longer considering them as a lender, she had the gall to send an email to my wife and I saying that essentially we were dumb to not listen to her. Needless to say, we do recommend this institution.

Verified Customer
They were extremely unorganized, we had to repeatedly submit the same paperwork to them on several occasions, our refinance paperwork stated our first payment is on September 1, 2021, yet the raised our mortgage balance by $400. And reported us late on our payment for August even though it wasn't due until the next month

I have been a customer of Stock Yards Bank both personally and professionally for the last 3 years. I prefer Stock Yards Bank over larger banks in Kentucky. Each time I call, I find the staff across multiple departments at SYB to be engaging and personable. They actually take the time to answer questions and are genuinely interested in helping you. Stock Yards has helped me with a variety of loan products for my business and home over the last few years. The underwriting has always been prompt and easily understood. The loan terms are better than any of the other banks in the area which is an obvious benefit. You can tell that the bank has a vested interest in promoting the well being of the community that they are a part of. I felt compelled to write this review when a bank manager at the Outer Loop office recently provided me with his time, advice and counsel on a banking issue even though there was not an immediate benefit to himself or the bank. It is this type of customer focused professionalism that keeps me coming back time each time I need a new account or loan. I highly recommend using Stock Yards Bank.

Every single week it’s always a new fraud charge case of something I purchase and it makes me mad! I’m canceling stock yard as of today. I cannot keep dealing with this anymore. The only thing I use most is Uber and Lyft and you guys keep putting a hold on my card for no reason for a fraud case. You guys are horrible. I’m moving on and I only been with you guys for 3 months

I've been a customer of Stock Yards Bank for over 7 years and have not once had a problem with them. They've always been kind and understanding with their customer service. I have three accounts with them, a personal checking, a joint checking, and a savings account. They've always been able to resolve any problems or "accidents" and are speedy in that resolution, as well.

I had an account with Stock Yards Bank for about a period of 2 or more years. In that time, they were always friendly and accommodating to me! The local branches were always helpful when an issue arose and I needed to talk to someone in person as well. It was actually my first bank account ever at the time. This was no issue for Stock Yards, as there were still able to set me up with a nice account. I ran direct deposit through them and never had an issue with that either. I really liked their online banking, which allowed me to set up transfers to go through each week after I was paid. This method allowed me to begin to save money in a Stock Yards savings account without any charge! The only reason I closed my account was because I was moving to an area that was not covered by Stock Yards. So, you cannot go wrong with Stock Yards if they are in your area! I give this bank 5 stars out of 5.
