High fees. Low interest. Poor customer service. There is no good reason to do business with them. There are many better credit unions and banks out there.

They are outstanding people to work with and have made my car financing a great experience. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a loan. It is very easy to talk with a representative, and they are friendly and helpful in getting you your answers. I wouldn't have done better anywhere else.

I have made three trips in from out of town to close my Mom's account after she passed away. I brought all the paperwork, to the branch, that they told me I needed when I called them. They keep adding more to the list for paperwork that they need in order to close the account. I closed her other bank accounts (not Summit FCU) without issue. Summit FCU will not close the account or give me my Mom's money. It has been four months!

To whom it may concern.I wound like to give a shout out to Christine of the West Taft Rd branch for the professional help she gave me on 4-26-2022 concerning a lost debit card.Christine was very helpful, warm, and solved the issue so quickly that I forgot to shake her hand or thank her approximately.Employees like her,and others at that branch should be considered for company recognition. Thank You,.Carmen Harlow.

Summit has been one of the worst bank I have ever been a member of. I have been with this bank for seven years in good standing and as soon as I fall into a rough patch with this pandemic this bank exploits my situation with its predatory fees. When I try to talk to customer service and explain my situation they are judgmental and say they can do nothing which I know is not true. I have also asked them to put a hold on my account and have contacted other companies to stop charging me bills and paid my bills with another bank. Even with all this, THE BANK STILL CHARGES ME FEES FOR MONEY THAT HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN OUT OF MY ACCOUNT. Customer service again says they can't do much, SO WHY HAVE CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THE FIRST PLACE IF THEY HAVE NO POWER? This bank is highway robbery and scammy, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I would give it a negative 5 if I could, absoultely terrible and borderline disgusting what they do to their customers, especially in this economic climate. ugh.

SFCU is by far the worst credit union I have ever dealt with. This pertains to not just loans but to all banking here in general. The staff in the loans dept has no clue what they're talking about and have incorrectly advised me multiple times on what to do to qualify for a loan which after following advice I still was not approved. Their staff at the counter has incorrectly posted payment to my credit card causing me to get a late notice in the mail. Their online banking is ridiculous. If I could have given no stars as a rating, I would have.

MAJOR problems with their mortgage department. I attempted to contact Summit FCU mortgage department to resolve an issue with an automatic bill pay that didn't go through due to insufficient funds. On the Summit FCU website under contact us, their business hours are listed as M-F 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. I attempted to call them at 8:40 am, and listened to an after hours recording letting me know that the office was now closed, and that business hours are M-F from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. My second and third attempts at 8:50 and 9:10 am produced the same results. I then called their general number and was able to speak with a live person who said "sure, I'll put you through to our mortgage department", only to hear the same after hours recording. She then suggested that I try back around 10:00 o'clock. In the interim, I deposited enough money to cover the shortage. I called back at 10:45 am to let them know that there were now sufficient funds in the account. The woman I spoke with said that she would direct my call to the person who handles that, only to get a recorded message that "Mr. X" was away from his desk and to leave a message. Rather than leave a message, I called back and spoke with a woman from the mortgage department to let her know that there were now sufficient funds in the account and that they could go ahead and put the payment through, and asked if she would be willing to wave the insufficient funds charge. She said that she would let "Mr. X" know to transfer the funds for payment, and that he would decide about waving the insufficient funds fee, and call me back. I gave the woman both my cell and home phone numbers for him to call back. I never received a call back from "Mr. X" in the mortgage department, and in checking my email account later the same evening, I received a notice from Summit that they had frozen ALL of my bill pay accounts as the mortgage payment had not been made. I now have to contact Summit and get them to unfreeze my account, then go back into my account online to re-establish all of my bill pay. If there is a way to yank my mortgage loan through Summit and set it up with another institution at a comparable rate, I would love to. I've been a customer in good standing with Summit FCU for over 40 years, and am also considering moving to another credit union. Laurinda E.

I am a Flight Attendant who was briefly stranded due to the error of the Summit Federal Credit Union. About two month ago, I posted a negative review after my card had been reported as “lost or stolen” even though it was in my possession the entire time. Of course, since it was Friday just after business hours, I could not get anyone on the phone from Summit and I was literally stuck in an airport unable to purchase food or even withdraw cash to pay for transportation. As it turns out, it only takes an extremely angry review to get someone from the Summit FCU to call you!
On the call with the representative who actually called me from home (we’ll call her “Sister Mary North”), she stated that the error was on the part of the Summit FCU and apologized and ordered my card to be reactivated again instantly. In the spirit of being appreciative for her calling me during her personal time during the evening, I went ahead and removed the negative review that attracted their attention to my plight.
While she worked to get my card active again, I told her about my history with the institution and how I had become their customer in order to rebuild my credit. I had a credit card with them which was closed due to a grave miscommunication from another representative (who we’ll call “Sister Mary Patrick”). I had a small financial fiasco and when I was prepared to pay my credit card off in full, Sister Mary Patrick advised me that the account was “frozen” and that I would need approval to reestablish the account. The account was 60 days past due (which I admit was my fault). I asked Sister Mary Patrick what the difference was between “frozen” and “closed.” She stated that they were “basically the same thing.” Because of this, I withheld my funds for use since I would not have access to my credit card after paying it off AND no cash on hand either while I was in Brazil. Many months later, I received a communication from the Summit FCU that the credit card account would be “closed.” Closed?!? As in I had a chance to SAVE the account? I continued to receive emails from Sister Mary Patrick requesting that I call her office. On more than one occasion, I responded stating that I would continue the discussion IN WRITING via email since her miscommunication caused me to elect NOT to pay for that card and pay other financial obligations first. Sister Mary Patrick NEVER responded to the request that communications continue in writing. Instead, she closed my overdraft account that had been maintained flawlessly and paid IN FULL each month I needed it.
Back to Sister Mary North, she had a conversation with her boss (who we’ll call “Mystery Boss”) explaining what I had told her and that I owed absolutely no other debts. In fact, my other accounts with the Summit FCU (including two car loans and an overdraft account) had been maintained flawlessly. Sister Mary North advised me that Mystery Boss would reinstate my credit card account upon full payment of the delinquent account. I even offered to forward all emails between Sister Mary Patrick and me to prove my claim that I was ignored when I insisted that communications continue in writing. Just days later, I had the funds necessary to hold up my end of this offer.
… but instead of following through, the Summit FCU went DARK on me! No further responses as I tried to THROW MY MONEY at the institution! Several emails went unanswered. I can only assume that they suddenly changed their minds about the offer and did not want to respond out of fear that it would prove that an offer was made and accepted. This is fine! If this was the case, simply say so! I understand credit takes time to repair.
For those of you considering doing business with the Summit FCU, do everything in writing! I learned the hard way. Anyone reading this has an opportunity to learn the easy way.

I have had several different types of accounts with the Summit Federal Credit Union over the years, including car loans, home equity lines of credit, savings accounts, personal loans, and checking accounts. The customer service I have received during this time was great, and their loan products are very competitive.
I'm not a huge fan of their online application process/online banking site, and it's too bad that their hours are more limited than larger banks. These are the only complaints I have about The Summit. If it weren't for these two issues, I would very likely do all of my banking with them.

When my husband and I were purchasing a car for our oldest son, we were having trouble getting financing around the Thanksgiving holidays. Not only did they stay in touch, but we had everything locked down heading into the week right after Thanksgiving. Every time I’ve been in there, I have heard them greet each customer by name when they walk in the door, which is not only refreshing, but makes me really glad that this is where we have not only the financing for my son’s car loan but for mine too.

Its one of the best credit cards I have owned to date. The facilities offered at the Summit Fed are simply irresistible. I get very good interest rates with my checking and savings account. Their online transaction processing is hassle free and is a breeze to handle. They have employed customer-friendly people as clerks in their banks and they truly stand up to their reputation. They have really lucrative savings interest rates and I really find it helpful as I save up regularly from my monthly earnings. The interest rates on credit cards are extremely low and its a card worth owning. Having the Summit Fed Credit Union simply makes the owner proud!

We have been Summit customers for a few years and overall they are great! Their online interface makes it so simple to transfer money to our savings when we get paid. Also whenever we have a problem and need to speak to someone their representatives are always very willing to help!
They have locations that are very convenient for us. They make it easy to do your banking and even make it appealing for you to open other accounts like money markets!
