Surprised to see so many negative reviews. I love Wheelhouse. Their customer service is above and beyond. They offer great rate loans, great interest on checking accounts that I don't see at other institutions. Excellent rates on IRAs and investment accounts. I originally went to Wheelhouse on the recommendation of the company that was installing my solar after being denied at another credit union that I had been with for over 20 years because, even though I have excellent credit and income, I had changed jobs 18 months prior and they required 24 months at the same job. Wheelhouse was more than happy to have my business. They even gave me a better rate loan than I would have received at my old credit union had I been approved. I have moved all my accounts to Wheelhouse Credit Union and have been there now for over a year and am very happy with them.

They collect excessive loan interest which they cannot explain. If you want to make a payment to principal you have to call them. No way to do it on the app or online. Made a $300 payment in-between regular monthly loan payments and was only credited $11 to principal. They can't explain it. They put me on hold indefinitely.

They will put a lien on your home for your solar loan and then make it miserable for you to take out a equity line or refi. They want to charge $450 to process an online form

worse ever online service, unable to set up payments, or simply log in without endless errors from the website, tried mobile app, even worse, it does not open due to continued errors. This is not a one day problem, I've tried several months now, and have to go personally to the bank to make my payments, I am suspicious they are making it difficult to pay your loan in order to charge the extra fees.

WheelhouseCU is one of the worst financial institutions I've ever dealt with (and that's saying something!). They simply don't care about their customers or any inconvenience they cause them. Their phone branch employees have no desire to help you and in fact, go to great lengths to make your interaction as difficult as possible. Try getting a replacement debit card after your card has been compromised - it *easily* takes 3 weeks. That seems to be ok by them because "you can use any of our shared branches to get cash whenever you need it"! Who carries around hundreds of dollars in cash for dining, groceries, hardware store, shopping, etc? I think it is time to move our many accounts out of this sham of a bank. No matter what a headache it will be, the time has come to find a bank that works for us.

When I moved out to San Diego, I was recommended to go to San Diego Metro Credit Union by a friend. So far, I have been relatively happy with the service I have received. The people in there are very nice and have helped me out on a few occasions. The only downside is the long lines, but that was not entirely unexpected. I had a couple of semi-complex financial issues that related to moving to San Diego, and the people who worked there seemed to be very knowledgeable and advised me on what I should do. I definitely recommend SDMCU; they have been great.

For a short period of time when I was in the Marine Corps, I lived in the San Diego area. Even though I was only there for a short period of time, I needed a local credit union to do business with. I just sort of randomly picked this San Diego Metro Credit Union and it worked out for the most part. They were always very friendly. But, on more than one occasion, the wait was extremely long. I've been a member of many credit unions and this was one of the worst and I experienced consistently bad wait times. They were always very apologetic; but, that can only go so far.
