Don't ever open a CD with US Bank. First of all they pay terrible interest. My elderly mother decided to withdraw the funds from her CD. Since it was a CD over 1 year they had the nerve to charge 3% of the amount withdrawn ($100,000 x 3%=$3,000.00)!! Since they pay such crappy interest she left there with $98,000. As you can tell, she never would have earned $3,000 even at full term but they have the nerve to charge that for early withdrawal. Can you believe they actually take away your principal?? There should be a law against US Bank praying on the elderly! If i'd been with her I would have advised her to leave until maturity but she went ahead and withdrew just to get out of US Bank. PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THE EARLY WITHDRAWL PENALTY AND DO THE MATH BECAUSE THEY HOPE YOU WILL NEED YOUR MONEY BECAUSE THAT IS HOW THEY MAKE THEIRS!!! I WOULD CONSIDER THIS ELDER ABUSE!

i find this to be a pretty low interest rate for a savings account however the convenience that it provides me to put money aside from my paycheck automatically every month is just great; also, CDs restrict me of when i can use the money, so i always like to have some at hand for emergencies, as soon as my savings hits a certain amount, i will be opening one with some of the cash. it is a pretty convenient product to have if you want to organize your personal finances if you already bank with U.S. bank. i give it a four star rating because the interest could be higher.
I am fairly new to U.S. Bank as far as savings and checking, but so far, so good! The customer service department was wonderful in helping me get set up, and I like that there is no required minimum in case I have an emergency or want to go on vacation and use much of what is in there. It is also very easy to transfer money from one account to another! My reason for giving four stars instead of five is only because there isn't a location close to me. This doesn't bother me too much, though, as they make it easy to do everything online.

I gave US Bank four stars because although they had a tough time dealing with my issue and coming to a fair resolution, the customer service they provided through the whole thing was absolutely phenomenal! I am not at liberty to discuss my issue, but I will say that US Bank handled it with the utmost care and consideration. They are known for being the second chance bank and that is why I went to them, for my second chance. I still have a savings account with them and I would still rate their customer service at five stars every time I go there!

I love my US bank. My saving account is free no min. There is no fee to transfer from my savings account to my checking account which is great. My old bank use to charge me a $1 to transfer money. I love that there is no min so when I transfer all my money from savings to go on vacations I don't get penalties. Also the transfer is instant from my savings to my checking or checking to savings. I Have access to it online or on my phone thru there app. There phone app is also very secure and i feel comfortable using it on my phone. I have never had a problem with the account.
I have had a US Bank checking account for many years and recently decided to open up a Standard Savings Account. Opening up the account was very easy – I logged into my online account, applied and was approved very quickly. It seemed very easy and hassle free because I could transfer funds with a click of a mouse. The following month however I saw that there was a monthly free. I called and talked with customer service and they said that you had to have monthly deposits to avoid the fee. I do not recall seeing this information when I signed up, otherwise I would not have opened the account. I closed the account and would not recommend this account to anyone.
I recently discontinued my savings account with US Bank because I was dissatisfied. It wasn't made clear to me during the account opening process that I had to maintain a minimum of a $300 balance to waive the $4 monthly fee. As a result, I ended up paying several of these fees before I realized, as I had to take money out of my savings account for moving fees. This wouldn't be a big deal if their fee system had been made clear to me while opening the account, but it wasn't. Additionally, the interest rate they offer of .01% annually is pretty lousy compared to the alternatives out there. Since opening a savings account with a credit union instead, I've been making far more in interest. While US Bank has been fine for my Checking Account needs, I don't recommend investing in a Savings Account with them.
We have a savings account with US bank because it is convenient for us and there is no monthly required balance. I am very satisfied with the fact that there are no monthly fees and it is free to withdraw or transfer money when we need. My biggest problem with this account though is the fact that no matter how much money we have in the account, the interest incurred is minimal. I think the most we've made is like 2 cents so far. Otherwise another pro to this account is the fact that I can use it to prevent over drawing my checking account. If for example, I over draw my checking by 2 dollars, instead of charging me the full overdraft fee, US bank will instead just automatically transfer money from my savings to checking in order to maintain a positive balance in my checking.
Although I really like this bank, there are some downfalls to it. The customer service is good at explaining the rewards of my account as well as some things I need to look out for, like too many withdraws. However, the interest rate is pretty poor in my opinion. It is so low that I hardly see any interest being deposited into my account, which has prompted me to look at other options for saving my money.
US Bank has very good tellers. They helped me get the right kind of savings account setup, and even has help for students like me! They have always been nice when I have been in there, and have never given me wrong information. I also know quite a few people that have a savings account with them and are very happy with it.
No, U.S. Bank does not have a minimum balance requirement for its checking accounts. You can withdraw up to the amount available on your account, and even beyond that, if you sign up for Overdraft Protection and link another account from which the missing funds can be deducted. Please keep in mind that even though there is no minimum balance required, you will be assessed a monthly maintenance fee if you don't set up direct deposits of at least $1,000 per month. For more information, you can give U.S. Bank a call at 800-872-2657.
