The best way to find out how many subscriptions you have is to use a budgeting app with a feature that shows all your subscriptions in one place. You can also review your bank and credit card statements or check platforms like Google Play or Amazon for subscriptions you’ve purchased through them. The average person has 4 to 5 subscriptions, according to various estimates, though some sources say the number could be as high as 12.
How to Find All Your Subscriptions
Review your statements.
Check all your bank and credit card statements for expenses that show up at regular intervals, such as monthly or weekly. You may have to review a year’s worth of your statements to find any annual subscriptions. However, your bank or credit card company may mark a transaction as a repeating or recurring charge if it happens on a regular basis. Plus, some banks and credit card companies offer tools that allow you to track all the subscriptions tied to your card in one place.
Check app stores and other third-party platforms.
People often purchase subscriptions through third-party platforms such as the App Store and Amazon. For example, you may have purchased a subscription for an app you downloaded from Google Play or the App Store. Or maybe you bought a Kindle subscription through Amazon, an Xbox subscription on Microsoft, or a Netflix subscription using your PayPal account.
To find out how many subscriptions you have altogether, you may need to search through each of these platforms individually for any active subscriptions. For instance, on Amazon, you will need to go under “Your Account” and select “Your Memberships and Subscriptions.”
Use a money management app.
Some money management or budgeting apps have a subscription manager feature that will automatically detect subscriptions you have and place them all in one list. This makes it easy to see exactly how many subscriptions you have without digging through multiple bank or credit card statements or checking numerous third-party platforms.
For example, the WalletHub app lets you sync your financial accounts so that your transactions are automatically tracked. Then it uses an algorithm that searches for patterns in your transactions. Transactions that have specific patterns will be marked as recurring.
Subscriptions are not the only expenses you should keep track of. There are other expenses, such as housing costs, groceries and entertainment, that you should track too. To learn more, check out WalletHub’s guides on what expenses to include in your monthly budget and how to track your expenses.
