Yes, you can rent a car with your Fortiva Credit Card. Because it operates on the Mastercard network, the Fortiva Credit Card is accepted pretty much everywhere, including at rental car agencies.
Tips for Renting a Car with the Fortiva Credit Card
- Low Credit Limit: The Fortiva Credit Card is designed for applicants with bad credit, so it may not have a very high credit limit. Rental agencies often place a hold on your account, so make sure your available credit is high enough to cover both the rental cost and the hold, or your card could be declined.
- Credit Utilization: Even if you have enough credit to pay for the rental, doing so will raise your credit utilization. You should aim to keep your balance below 30% of your credit limit, to maintain a positive credit score. Going over that percentage could damage your credit.
- Rental Car Insurance: The Fortiva Credit Card does not have a rental car insurance benefit. So, you’ll have to purchase coverage directly from the rental agency or use a separate insurance policy.
- Foreign Transaction Fee: If you plan on renting a car while traveling abroad, note that the card charges a 3% foreign transaction fee, which means that you’ll incur an extra 3% on top of the rental costs.
In other words, renting a car with the Fortiva Credit Card is possible, but you’ll want to keep an eye on your credit limit and utilization. If you plan on traveling abroad, you may want to use a card that doesn’t charge a foreign transaction fee.
