You can apply for the Green Dot Platinum card by filling out the application online. All you need is to be at least 18 years old, have a Social Security Number and a valid US home address.

Once approved, your card should arrive in 7-10 business days. Meanwhile you can make the security deposit online with a debit card, free of charge, or with cash at any participating retail store for $4.95 after your card arrived.

The Green Dot Platinum is a good option when it comes to credit building, since it is a secured card, doesn`t do a credit check, and reports to the three major credit bureaus: TransUnion, Experian and Equifax.
