Capital One VentureOne and Bank of America Travel Rewards each have simple reward earning structures and easy redemption methods. Neither card is tied to a specific airline or hotel chain so you can travel whenever you want with no blackout dates or restrictions.
The Bank of America Travel Rewards credit card offers 1.5 points per $1 spent on all purchases. Capital One VentureOne gives you 5 miles per $1 spent on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, and 1.25 miles per $1 on all other purchases.
The Bank of America Travel Rewards credit card also comes with an initial bonus of 25,000 points for spending $1,000 in the first 90 days vs. Capital One VentureOne’s $100 to use on Capital One Travel in your first cardholder year (limited-time offer), plus 20,000 bonus miles for spending $500 in the first 3 months. Both cards have no annual fee and no foreign transaction fee. There’s also an introductory APR of 0% for 15 months on purchases and balance transfers with VentureOne and 0% for 15 billing cycles with the Travel Rewards card. The regular APR is 18.24% - 28.24% Variable with the Bank of America Travel Rewards credit card and 19.24% - 29.24% (V) for Capital One VentureOne.
With either card, you can redeem rewards for 1 cent apiece on travel purchases, but they’ll lose nearly half their value if you redeem them for cash back or gift cards. The VentureOne card allows you to transfer points to any of 15 participating airline rewards programs for significantly more value.
