You can rent a car with a $300 credit limit, but it depends on the amount of time you plan on renting the vehicle and the type of vehicle you're renting. The rental company will put a hold on your credit card for the amount due, so if that is more than your available credit, or if you’re uncomfortable with that, you can simply use a debit card or pay the bill with cash.
Although most companies prefer to rent a car to a driver with a healthy amount of available credit, if you have sufficient funds on your debit card and a good credit score, you're likely to be able to rent a car without difficulties. If you have a poor credit score, however, rental companies can refuse to give out a car out of fear that they might not recover their losses should anything happen to the car.
