@WalletHub
You can file a complaint against a credit bureau through the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), or your state’s attorney general.
- File a complaint with the FTC online or by calling 877-382-4357.
- File a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling 855-411-2372.
- Find your state's attorney general and file a complaint.
Not all complaints receive action, and you will likely have to wait weeks for a response, if you receive one. It is also important to ensure that if you are disputing something, it is in fact an error on the part of the credit bureaus and not just something you don’t recognize. You may be asked to provide evidence to back up your claim.
