Marriott Bonvoy elite status expires in February of the second calendar year after you earn it. For example, if you earn Silver Elite, Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite in June 2025, it will last through February, 2027.
How to Keep Marriott Bonvoy Status
The expiration extends each time you requalify by meeting the required number of nights in the calendar year after you earn the status. So, if you requalify at any point in 2026, your new expiration will be February, 2028.
How to Requalify for Marriott Status
To requalify for Elite status, you need enough qualifying nights for your desired level. A qualifying night is any night at a participating Marriott Bonvoy hotel, including paid stays at eligible rates and stays redeemed with points, as long as they're booked directly through Marriott's channels.
Ways to Maximize Your Marriott Elite Status
Earn Elite Status with Marriott Credit Cards
This is often the easiest and most reliable way to maintain status without extensive travel. You can earn Silver Elite, Gold Elite, or Platinum Elite status depending on which Marriott card you get, and you'll keep it as long as your account is open and in good standing. Plus, all cards give yearly Elite Night Credits to help you reach higher status levels faster.
Leverage Your Points and Book Directly
Every night you stay at a Marriott, whether paid with cash or points, counts toward your Elite status. Just be sure to always book directly through Marriott's website or app.
Take Advantage of Promotions
Marriott often runs targeted promotions that help you earn Elite status faster. For example, some promotions offer double Elite Night Credits for eligible stays. You usually need to register for these deals.
Lifetime Status Status
You can earn lifetime Silver Elite, Gold Elite, or Platinum Elite status. For example, to qualify for Lifetime Silver Elite status, you need 250 qualifying nights plus 5 years at Silver Elite or higher.
