You can transfer Marriott Bonvoy points to your Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account online, using Marriott’s “Transfer Points to Miles” page. The conversion rate is 1,000 Flying Club points for every 3,000 Marriott points you transfer. To complete a transfer, your Marriott and Virgin Atlantic accounts must be under the same name.
How to Transfer Marriott Points to Virgin Atlantic
- Go to the Transfer Page: Navigate to Marriott’s “Transfer Points to Miles” page.
- Initiate the transfer process: Click the “Transfer Points” option and log into your Bonvoy account.
- Choose Virgin Atlantic as the travel partner: Select Virgin Atlantic Flying Club from the “Frequent Flyer Program” dropdown and enter your Flying Club member number.
- Select the exchange rate: Enter the number of Marriott points you wish to transfer to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club from the “How many Marriott Bonvoy points do you want to transfer?” field.
- Review and confirm your request: Double-check all transfer details, then click “Continue” to finalize your request.
You can transfer up to 240,000 Marriott points per day. Transfers aren’t instant, so it’s best to allow a few days and avoid waiting until the last minute if you plan to book flights. You'll also get a 5,000-point bonus for every 60,000 points you transfer.
Is It Worth It to Transfer Marriott Points to Virgin Atlantic?
Marriott points are worth about 0.8 cents each when you use them for hotel stays, so 3,000 points get you around $24 in bookings. But if you transfer those 3,000 points to Virgin Atlantic, you'll only get 1,000 Flying Club points, worth about $22.30 - meaning you're losing $1.7. As a result, transferring points to Virgin Atlantic usually results in a loss of value.
