While CD interest rates are currently at a high point, there are no banks that currently offer a 6%APY. However, some credit unions do offer that rate, and even higher:
- Lewis Clark Credit Union - 7.23% APY on a 11 month CD
- Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union - 7.19% APY on a 7 month CD
- Chicago Patrolmen%s Federal Credit Union - 6.18% APY on a 3 month CD
- Complex Community Federal Credit Union - 6.00% APY on a 6 month CD
- Empower Federal Credit Union - 6.00% APY on a 3 month CD
- Sterling United Federal Credit Union - 6.00% APY on a 12 month CD
Keep in mind though, CDs from credit unions will always seem more attractive at the start. The big downside is that membership to that credit union is always required, and eligibility to join it is not always the most accessible.
Ultimately, there's more to a CD than just its APY. The best CDs have low penalties and flexible funding options.
