The penalty for withdrawing money from a CD depends on the term of the CD. The early withdrawal penalties are as follows: 6 month CD - Penalty is equal to 31 days of interest; 12 and 24 month CDs - Penalty is equal to 90 days of interest; 36 and 60 month CDs - Penalty is equal to 180 days of interest.
