Woodforest has been a very good bank for me. I have a checking account with Woodforest and I appreciate the fact that they have so many locations that are close to my home. Their hours are also very convenient for me because they're open a lot later than most banks. The only negative I've encountered are the very long lines at times but overall I would say Woodforest is a great bank.

I have been with woodforest for several years now. They have decent hours and wonderful customer service. They are conveniently located in my local Walmart, so I never have to take any extra trips. They provide online and mobile banking, which is a lifesaver for me, as I cannot drive. However, their minimum account balance fees are ridiculous. If your checking ever falls below $100, you are immediately charged $5. To me, this is unfair.

I have been with this bank for a little over a year now, Signed up when I moved to their local area. They have excellent customer service, but their minimum balance and fee are too high. I signed up for a protection, nothing was to be charged to my account if there was not enough money to cover it. They let one cost be charged several times, making my account go far into the negatives. When brough to their attention they did not resolve my issue.

I can't stand this bank!! The worst bank ever! Every time I would go to deposit a check, they needed a manager for an approval. And half the time there was never a manager to be found! Then they have to call around to other Woodforest branches till they find someone with over ride authorization. This process holds up the line and makes me late for work! I have even had checks put on hold for up to 14 business days!! I could see the reason for this if I was a hot check writer. But I have never bounced a check ever! And I have plenty of money in my account. They tell me I can take the check to the bank it's drawn off of. And have it cashed there, and then bring the cash back to deposit. WHAT???? If I am going to go to that much trouble, I am just going to open an account at that bank!! These checks I deposit are not even over 600.00 The tellers are usually really rude. And I had to deal with the regional VP at one time. I quickly found out that she was just a woman on a power trip!

I've had a Woodforest checking account for about 5 years now, one thing I can say, is that I've been pleased with this bank. They're conveniently located all across the country and the workers easy to deal with, in fact, they know me by name as soon as I walk in the door. There is a monthly fee, but since I've been with them for so long I still pay the rate I signed up with, $11 per month, and the NSF fees are only $30 but they'll usually give you 24 hours to put cash back in your bank account if you accidentally overdraft. All in all, I'm very satisfied with Woodforest and will continue to bank with them in the future.
