Axos Bank Checking Accounts Reviews
What's Your Rating?
I opened my Axos bank account with my significant other. I received a check from work, as the direct deposit wasn’t working, and I deposited the check via mobile deposit. It took 2 weeks to get access to my money. For two weeks, all it did was show a $0 balance, even though I made the deposit. There's a "10 business day wait period" for new bank accounts. Inconvenient? Sure, but it could be worse. Fast forward to today, my paycheck from work finally deposits, and I wait until I finish work so I can pay my bills. I get home, open the Axos app, and there's no money. $0. Nothing. I call Axos, only to be told our bank account had been CLOSED because they couldn’t verify my identity due to my address on my driver's license not being current, even though my significant other is the primary account holder, and his identity had been verified. They tell me they mailed a check to me, which won’t arrive for another 2 weeks. There was nothing online or on my app indicating that I still needed to verify my identity or that my account would be closed if I didn't. I had called customer service multiple times before this issue, and no one told me to verify my identity or made me aware that my account could be closed. Instead, every time I called with a concern, I was told, "I will submit a request of contact from a manager" for you. I was never contacted by any "manager" or supervisor from Axos. I would bet money that they don't have managers at all, but Axos took all of my money... :)
I've complained about this seven-day policy repeatedly, but to no avail. They always say, "We'll shorten the hold for this deposit," and then, surprisingly, the funds clear on the originally stated date—so they make empty promises and effectively do nothing.
Their website and app are riddled with constant errors of various kinds, and the "Evo" feature is completely useless. There is a way to get help, but you must navigate the menus correctly, or you will be responded to by Evo.
Overall, this is a terrible bank—a typical Silicon Valley experience. If you appreciate the level of customer service provided by other large Silicon Valley entities, you might like Axos. If you're looking for a bank that functions more traditionally, you should steer clear of them.
