I've been with discover 7 years & never had a problem with them until they directly took out a payment 2 times in less than a week.. during this pandemic we are all struggling & now I am told to wait 7-9 days to get reimbursed on top of an overdraft fee because I have $200 less to pay my bills.. talk about stressful. I can’t call anyone due to it being the weekend, so I have to be over drafted & they can’t do anything about it. Makes me upset do not sign up for direct pay!!!!

I opened an account about a week ago, they randomly closed it and won’t disclose to me the reason. There is $2,350 in the account and they will not give me my money back for 60-90 days. I need this money DESPERATELY right now, hence the reason for me to open up a bank account in the first place. I’ve been totally left in the dark on what’s going to happen and I have NO access to my money!

This is the worst bank ever. They froze my account for suspious activity and when I spoke to a customer service rep he said that I would need to verify my identity and what I would need to upload to them. I did what they asked and was told it takes 10 days to process the documents but before those 10 days were up they closed both my accounts and tell me I have to go to the bank where my orginating deposit was from. Now to me that is just stupid and from what I have read is that they have to send me a check for what was in those accounts when they closed it. So someone there is not wanting to give me my money. Do not trust this bank they will steal your money.3my orginanating

Though it seemed like a good place to use the checking account I am finding out it may not be. I transferred money from a Bank Of America Account that I also own to the Discover Bank Card account I opened recently. And even though the money is transferred and sitting in the Discover Account and has shown withdrawn from the BoA account Discover still puts a hold on it for 2 weeks. I don't think that is a wise decision for a bank with people needing to access THEIR money. Seriously thinking of closing this account for that. I also read they hold mobile deposited checks for a little time also. I may have to try that and see what happens. For this type of bank and all the good I have had with their credit card it seems a shame they do something like this.

I am a college student with little money so any mistakes a bank account makes are a really big deal to me. I had a checking account with Discover and when depositing a check onto the account they closed my account without giving me reason. I was unable to obtain a reason when calling Discover and the money that was on the account I was unable to get to. I had to wait 60 days after the account closing before they would send me a check for the money in the account. The reason that it's a big deal is because they closed my account and wouldn't tell me the reason. It was very frustrating and I had to switch banks completely.

Honestly this would be a negitive 10 review. I opened a checking and savings account and deposited checks that i had worked hard for also a peraonal injury settlment check. Being an onloine only bank they had asked to verify my identity. The documents i had provided them caused them to close my account leaving 1800 dollars trapped inside. (My rent money). My mother and i are packing our things today because we had gotten a 3 day pay or vacate. we dont have anywere to go and no car All because i lost my hard copy id and tried to provied my birth certificate and social instead THANX DISCOVER BANK!!

I got an email message from Discover confirming my change of address and phone number for my checking account. I didn’t change anything, so called the number. Turns out my account was hacked into. I asked how could this happen, was told people use a program that runs passwords continuously until one hits. Said I needed a stronger password and change it periodically. Like it was my fault. Had to close the account and open a new one. Long story short, before I had time to change my auto credit cards payments, several of them bounced. My credit score went down 100 points. Now, I’d had the same password with Chase for 15 years, was never asked to change it and never got hacked into. Discover is a credit card company that wants to be a bank but doesn’t have the same protections as a bank. I’m going back to Chase, it’s not worth the increased (very slight) percentage in interest.

I've been with Discover for about 2 years when I got my credit card from them. I decided to take in the consideration of having a checking account with Discover. I received a 50 dollar bonus for creating a checking account with them. The representative was very helpful in setting up my account. I also received 5% off for six flags theme park and 5% off other offers which is great! This is a decent Bank to do your banking with, especially for college students.

A great online checking account with a $50 bonus to boot! Setting it up is simple and easy. They offer free checks/atm on this account and give you $0.10 for each atm/check that clears. You can combine it with the Discover savings to get more interest. Discover also has the absolute best customer service around. I've been a card member for seven years and I have had zero problems. I highly recommend this account to anyone that wants a good no frills checking account.
